looking for a missing kitty

(if it's inappropriate to post this here, i apologise).

my only outside cat has been missing for about a month now, and i've been looking everywhere for him (he loves stranger's porches)--didn't think ov asking here until my girlfriend suggested it this morning.

he's an orange tabby, about two and a half years old, but slightly small for his age.  here's a pic:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/teresangel/4053384269/
it's kind ov an old picture, but the only major difference is that he's now missing part ov his left ear from a fight (not that you can tell it was all there in the picture).  he has a flea allergy and an apparently incurable sinus problem, so he usually looks kind ov rough--because ov this, i suspect that someöne may have though noöne was taking care ov him and taken him in.

i think i've checked all the obvious places (porches for several blocks around, AC&C, etc.), but suggestions are welcome.

thank you!

This may be the kitty that has been making the rounds in the 6th & Market area. He is known as Colonel Powell (idk why). If it is him, he has been taken to the vet to be treated for his flea allergy which led to a skin infection. One of the kind souls there is taking care of him until his infection is clear. Since he was making the very wide rounds, several people who have laid out buffets for him have agreed they will assist in keeping him on flea meds monthly.

I personally did not see him so I will tell ask those who did to check this photo. If it is him, rest assured that he is being well-cared for.  ;D

i'm glad someöne's taking care ov him--id' feared the worst.

i've been tryïng to keep advantage on him, but admittedly wasn't doïng the best job ov it.  if the person who took him to the vet can give me bill information, i'll do what i can to cover it.

i've heard that pretty much everyöne in the neighbourhood likes him--since i'm not terrible social or likable myself, though, i wasn't sure.

also:  he's called colonel powell because a man who works for my dad thinks he looks like colin powell.  more than that, i don't know.  i've always called him poysin or, alternately, orange thing.

thank you!

yea he was living on my porch for a few days a few weeks back. i was wondering where i had accumulated an orange cat, then one day he was just gone. i live on 7th and it seems all the cats love my house. a new kitten appeared on my porch a couple days after your cat left, looks like it was dumped by a former resident of springfield.

And that my friends is another reason to love Springfield! The tabby is cute but who's that beautiful gray darling at the bottom? That one reminds me of my oldest cat who never leaves the house unsupervised ie always grasped tightly in my arms. She would be totally wacked out by others coming to her rescue but if she ever needed assistance I can't think of a better place to get lost.

When my house got broken into last year, my fear was the cats might have gotten out but they were too spooked (not spoked) to venture beyond a closet and beneath a sofa. They were still petrified by the time I got home almost 2 hours after the fact.

That's definitely him, KuroiKetsunoHana and nvrenuf.  He spent about a week frequenting our porch and he's definitely a loving soul, and is indeed being cared for while he gets better.  My understanding is that he'll be returned to the neighborhood (since no one really knew who he belonged to) and to his many, many friends...  ha, we miss him too!   I believe hooplady has the particulars and hopefully can update us as to his progress...

Springfield Chicken

I've not seen yours but I think we now are up to 4 or 5 porch cats that hang out around our house.  Two gray tigers that are young, a grayish Siamese-ish, a light orange and cream, and one that looks like a fig newton that was caught in the blender.  I think they come to watch the chickens.

that's lyn-Z, and she's my sweet little grumpy-butt.  she hates everyöne except me, unless i'm not there--then she loves whoëver wants to pet her.  she's an inside cat (all except poysin are inside cats, and if we'd been able to get him to use the litterbox in the two years he was inside, he still would be too).

again, thank you everyöne!  i really appreciate that people have been taking care ov him.

could Springfield ever organize a security patrol?
do other neighborhoods in Duval have privately funded patrols?

not to get away from the subject of kittys

though it's not the same thing, we at least used to have the SCoP walks--whatever happened to those?

KuroiKetsunoHana,
I looked at the picture and yup, that's the kitty we called Colin Powell allright!  We assumed he was feral since his left ear was tipped, but we were puzzled since he was soooo friendly.  I gave him a bath and some Advantage and took him to the vet last Friday under SACARC's account.  They said he had a slight upper respiratory infection so he was treated and one of the vet techs offered to foster him for us.  I just checked on him yesterday and she said he's doing great.  Send me a PM with your contact info and I'll arrange to get him back home to you, and if he strays we'll know where he actually belongs.  We'll still coordinate to make sure he gets his flea treatment regularly.

Yay!  We'll be happy to list this one as "returned to owner" (even if he thinks he has multiple owners).

KuroiKetsunoHana

again, thank you everyöne; especially hooplady & the SACARC folks.

Thank goodness for technology in helping us to locate lost pets.  Back in my day, people had to drive around the neighborhood in a conversion van and had to ask local children to help us find their lost pets...  Thankfully, I acted like I didn't speak English and I ran to the nearest police station...

I love that kitty.  He is so very sweet.  SACARC and the neighbors who foster and care for all the babies are admired by me.  Such BIG hearts and lovel!
