Hopefully he has been adopted by family who will keep him from roaming.  Perhaps animal control has picked him up.

Not likely that Animal Control has picked him up...stray cats are rarely on their agenda.  They'd be just as likely to call one of us at SACARC first.  I'm hoping he has used his charm on somebody new and he's snoozing in the sun right now, oblivious to our concern.  Regardless, I'll keep my eyes peeled.

It's pretty damned easy to keep a cat at home.

Step 1: Keep door closed.
Step 2: When entering/exiting door, do not let cat out.
Step 3: Repeat steps 1 and 2.

I mean unless the cat pays rent or something. I have 5 cats and while they might want to go out, I don't have to worry about all the diseased animals in the area and people who let their dogs out in the street to specifically chase and kill cats.

i think i went over all this the first time around--we couldn't get him to use the litterbox for anything, and he was very miserable the entire time he was inside.  outside makes him happy, and no litter worries.

every other cat i and the people i live with have does indeed stay in the house--you're right, waxy boy, it is easy.  it's just, every once in a while, not the solution.
