QuoteWould fans buy tickets to watch Tebow and the Jaguars lose?

No - they would not.  Albeit, not long term.  They would damn sure buy them to watch him win - more than most others.  My fear/scenario is that the Jags pass on him somewhere in the second round and then Team X picks him up as "a steal" & he goes on to become a marvel.  Maybe that's not likely to most - however, the backlash from the fans could become compounded with what is already a bad situation if that transpires.  There is a movement in Tampa Bay to grab him for the very same reasons.  Of course, there may be JUST as many Jags fans that would be turned off by the pick - it's a double edged sword, but this seems to have manifested into a situation in which the organization is pigeon-holed into making a strategic decision from a business standpoint - both with dramatic ramifications, as it will be scrutinized for a long time.  That said, I'd prefer that they draft McCoy or Clausen in the first round   :-\.........

I don't want to waste a pick on a QB that cries on National TV over the loss of a game. The NFL is a game for men, and just as there is no crying in baseball, there is none in football either. Strap them on and hit for 60 minutes.

We don't need a QB, we need DBs and a DT to replace what we lost with Stroud. Still have not fixed that position. Harvey is beginning to make plays, same with Lewis at TE. Nelson is still embarrassing, but am hopeful he will get better. You can never have enough good linemen on either side of the ball.

The Jaguars should not even have to think about drafting one player to ensure ticket sales. The citizens and businesses of this community should support the team no matter what. This is sad we even have to talk about it. Tebow would be fun to watch, but I am not basing me decision to support to the Jags on one player! Come on Jacksonville!

I say we continue to hope for the best for our hometown kids and be done with all the nonsense.

No he is right, Tebow will boost ticket sales from loyal gator fans.
Id go to the Jag games to watch Tebow rather then watch them at home.
So would ALOT of other gator fans.

I hope the Jaguars won't make the pick just to appease non-fans with this sorry attitude.

Hopefully, in the near future, the stadium will be filled every game with real fans who come to support their team, have fun with fellow fans and experience nfl football in person.

There's so much criticism about Tebow crying. I'm not even a Gator fan but seeing him play, the way he plays pounding the football and constantly taking punishment... putting the game on his shoulders and even coming back in 2 weeks from being hospitalized with a concussion. I believe he's proved he's strong enough mentally and physically to play at any level. Mtrain watch any big game, bowl game â€" playoff game or Superbowl and you will see multiple players on both sides that cry.

That said I’m on the fence about Tebow. My gut feeling is that he won’t be successful as an NFL QB â€" tough or not. I’m also afraid of the backlash of fan disappointment. I see and hear so many fans at the Jags games asking for Tebow. Whether they’re right or wrong about him I think it could hurt ticket sales immediately. The pressure coming from L.A. to put a team out there as early as next season could back Weaver into a corner. I think his decision could be swayed by ticket sales following the draft and during the summer.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Maybe you can show me a few, since I don't go looking for crying players when I think about future NFL stars. Maybe show me a picture of Eugene Monroe crying at UVA, or MoJo when he was at UCLA. Better yet, why not Mark Brunell when he was at Washington after a disappointing loss.

No crying in the NFL, that is why girls don't play the game.

Yeah, that crybaby Brett Favre had no place being in the NFL

Yea becuase that is working so well. I'll keep my money to myself and spend it on other things till I have something to be excited about with the jags. ;)

You want to cry publicly, go on Oprah, write a book and sell millions for crying publicly. This is the National Football League, we have no place for crying.

Ray Lewis probably cries all the time, when he's beating the A$$ of his opponents.

^So in all of your days spent in the NFL locker room and around fellow players, you've never seen them cry?

The team is fighting for a playoff spot, has one of the premier running backs in the league and a bunch of rookies making big plays on both sides of the ball.  If you can't get excited about that, you don't belong at the stadium.

I don't go to NFL games to watch guys cry. Maybe you and Charlie Crist do, but not me.

^ Oh, you confused me with a "we". ;)

I don't think there's room to cry all of the time, but if the man wants to cry after every loss, and he's only losing once a year, then hey...let him cry.

Of course, there is always room in the NFL for players that go out and get drunk the night before the game, leave the stadium after a loss without any remorse at all because the checks still get cashed, right?

Captain Zissou

Mtrain, I love how you can't see the irony of your pathetic argument.  How is you whining about someone crying, for nearly an hour, any different??  Get over it, nobody is going to stoop to your level and tebow-bash with you.
