Anyone been to West Inn Cantina?

As far as food goes, go to the La Nop on Roosevelt instead. The bar is OK, the couple times I've gone  the crowd consists of 30-40 years olds. It's just a very basic place with the attached liquor store being it's best part in my opinion..

The food is much better than it was 4 or 5 years ago.  They have daily specials and, IMO, its a great place for margaritas & lunch on the patio.  People still refer to it as Monty's sometimes, which was the name of the place previously.  The drive-through liquor store is quite convenient, if not a little pricey.

Decent I suppose!

I didnt have a bad time but I did feel younger by 10 years then everyone. Intresting band played, I noticed a pool table. I was hungry and sadly found out they stoped serving food by the time I got there.
I did notice I was HORRIBLY overdressed then anyone else in there, so I felt like I stood out. I'd go back I suppose, but maybe not go out of my way to go there.

It's one of our fave places to go with the family.  Food is very good, and very reasonably priced.  It is *WAY* better than Moss Fire - I am always disappointed at Miss Fire (stopped going years ago).  The patrons are just drunk enough to not care if you're at a table with six wiggling kids.  Service is generally good.  It is not the cleanest place in town, but that doesn't really phase us.  We used to love sitting outside before it became akin to a smoker's paradise.

Really? I haven’t been to Mossfire in awhile. I used to love that place, but the last time I was there they apparently changed their set up. I walked in and headed upstairs where I usually go when the hostess, some girl I’d never seen there before, started saying “hey hey, uh, excuse me, can I help you?” in a pissy tone. So I say “No. Help me what? I come up here all the time.”

Her: “You can’t go up there. We aren’t seating there right now”
Me: “Well it’s a good thing I’m meeting people who are already here. And what if I just wanted to sit at the bar?”
Her: “There really busy up there right now”
Me: “Fine I don’t care, I’m not in a rush. Are you trying to make people not want to come here at all? Because that’s what it sounds like.
B*tchface: (Glares)

And then later when I leave I see her having a similar conversation with two girls who just came in and were trying to go upstairs. I guess this makes me sound like an old crank but I don’t care. I thought the job of a hostess was to greet people who come in and make them feel welcome. This girl was acting like a friggin bouncer.

WTF? There is a bar upstairs, AND an OUTSIDE area for smoking and bar stuff. Maybe she was just having a bad day, it does happen now and again. Mossfire food is great stuff!

Let me clarify.  I am talking about West Inn when I say: "The patrons are just drunk enough to not care if you're at a table with six wiggling kids.  Service is generally good.  It is not the cleanest place in town, but that doesn't really phase us.  We used to love sitting outside before it became akin to a smoker's paradise. We haven't gone to Moss Fire in years.  High prices, mediocre food.

I don't know which West Inn you see, but the owners have a great place and its hit or miss on smoking, but people come and go quickly, so not a big downer. Great food, good prices and fun people. If not your cup, I am sure there are other mexican places available to take your dollars.

Mossfire - Not sure what is up there either, great local owners and great food.

Oh I see, I misread. Let me also clarify, she wasn’t the reason I stopped going there as often. I’ll gladly go back, march right up the stairs, and get into with her again if she says anything. (Assuming she still works there) It was mostly because of the prices, which have gone up quite a lot. Particularly drinks.

Sorry, but will always be known as Monty's to a lot of us. I do chuckle when I spot a barrel seat or table in someone game room or front porch that I had sat/slouched/slept in before. "Shooters, We love shooters..." Eddie Cotton setting guitar ablaze and using upper glass rack for a slide. Really funny shit!

The Spoffords, especially Linda and their son Nicky are great examples of local business people and neighbors. They hold their heads high and avoid the fracas that has been going on up the block and do a very respectable job in a not always easy Liquor biz.

The food? Haven't tried in years and the service will always be questionable due to the Spofford's loyalty to staff. One is pushing 30 years. Several should have been run off years ago, but they'll never know it.

The drive thru is a different story. You barely slow down and your four-legged friends will love it even more.

If you do go to eat go late and find a night they have entertainment booked. Especially famous is the Wednesday Open Mic Night started over 20 years ago By Joe Stelchek and currently hosted by good neighbor and musical wiz Darren Ronan. Many of our now famous local kids got in a set there before discovering life on a tour bus. In between Darren and his buddies Du Jour always put up some great tunes.

It'll help the meal go down.
