St. Auggie

Some prominent members of this forum like to only point out the negatives.  I have never seen these particular members post anything positive.  Guess what?

Housing starts are up for the second straight month.
The supposed Greece debt crisis? Not materializing
Jobs are being created.
Interest rates will go back up next month.
And the DOW.  I saved this one for last because I know you loathe people using this as an indicator.  Its way up.  Even after you told us it was headed south because of Greece, and I begged to differ with you.

Now is everything perfect.  NO.  Let me say that again.  I KNOW IT IS NOT PERFECT.  But I never see these posters point out the positives that are occuring.  I would love to hear all the other positive news that other members have been experiencing/seeing/hearing recently so that when the Debbie Downers jump on here they can realize it is not all bad, as I know it is not all good.

Unemployment in construction is still over 27% nationally and climbing.  This seems to contradict your housing start announcement, however, many, maybe most residential laborers are undocumented, so yay, great, more illegals going back to work!

Fuck the market, sorry but it is not a reflection of what is happening on the ground here in the US of A.  It is an indicator of whats happening all over the globe, and if American companies are using foreign labor to sell products globally how is that really positive news for the American "working man"?

For working people the news is still bad, there is nothing to be happy about yet, the focus of the bail out was on the wrong place and the government is just starting to see that.  You can spin whatever news or statistics to make yourself feel better but the fact is that this crisis has been wasted.  The reforms needed to minimize these activities that lead to this crisis have not and will not be enacted.  The system has not been and will not be exercised of its demons, it is still legal to take investors money, make a bet (without fiduciary responsibility) with waay too much risk, and then hedge against that bet knowing that it will fail and the insurance can be collected.

St. Auggie, I share your annoyance with the "nattering nabobs of negativism" and the "hopeless, hysterical hypochondriacs of history".  Hopefully there will soon be private sector jobs being created to go along with the public sector jobs already created.

Nothing good will be happening until everyone who wants a decent paying job has one!  I can promise you that we are coming at this from very different situations!

St. Auggie:  thanks for brightening up our day with some positive news.  It really does get annoying when people focus on nothing but the negative.  Maybe the economy would improve with a little more positivity in the world.

I have to call BS, your stats and actual figures to back up your claims would be helpful.

Yeah, maybe if all the unemployed people just positived some decent jobs out of their asses, everything would be just peachy!  Some people are always blaming the victim!  The unemployed damn sure did not create this mess!

Employment tends to come a little late to recovery parties. It would be easier if it were a leading indicator but it rarely is.  In the end it is one of the most important factors but it is alright to be positive about the other signs they may point the way to hiring.
