I've been to this ATM a few times after dark and felt a little sketched out.

Maybe a series of booby-traps would deter / foil the plans of would be robbers... plus every late night transaction could be a goonies adventure.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Heck, This isn't the only way to get robbed at an atm in Riverside!! Has anyone else noticed that the ATM by Wasabi now charges $4.00 for a withdrawl????

RiversideLoki

Yeah that ATM sucks. I walk down to the Suntrust by Publix instead. The reason the fees are so high there is the bank that owns it realized people only really go to that one to get money for food/the bars/etc. They're definitely taking advantage of the customers.

But hey, you can walk into the Tropical mart right there and it's "only" 2 dollars for their fee.

If you are on one of the major ATM groups, the ATM at Publix charges NO fee.  Being a really cheap person, that's the one I always use.

Depending on the day and whether I feel like carrying, if someone tries taking my cash at an ATM then they're probably going to wind up with a shiny new bullet hole to show their friends. "Oh I have more cash in my wallet, here you can have it all just don't hurt me...let just me reach in and get it for you..." hehe.

You can't run around not using ATM's and being scared of people. Get your CCW permit and teach the fuckers a lesson.

What if they already have a gun aimed at you?

What happens if you shoot an unarmed robber?

If a robber is unarmed, how does he expect to rob someone?  Unarmed request for money is called panhandling.  Request for money accompanied by a threat of harm, fist, rock, knife, gun, puts one is "threat of great bodily harm" which is the threshold for the use deadly force in Florida.

Chris is right.  Robbers are a herd that needs thinning.

I meant what if the robber is not armed with a gun... I should have clarified.

If you are willing to shoot someone over a few hundred dollars you just flat suck at life and need to go live in the woods far away from other humans!

It's not about the money, but the principal.

Criminals consider and fear three things in the following order before committing a crime:

1.  Being killed by the victim.
2.  Being injured by the victim.
3.  The Law.

Unfortunately, #3 does not work so well anymore.  We are on the verge of anarchy.  Arm and defend yourselves, and don't ever regret any act you are compelled to commit in defense of yourself or others.

I guess I suck. Sorry.

But if someone sticks me up, they're still getting shot.

JC,  It's not the few hundred dollars, it's the threat of harm; the initiation of violence.  If someone opens the door to violence they, or you, can have no complaint about how far I am willing to go through it.

What do you all think the reason is that someone would rob you at the ATM?

Let me also ask this, what is the difference between someone robbing you at the ATM for a few hundred dollars or someone investing the pension plans of millions, worth billions in instruments they know are risky, while they bet against said instruments by purchasing insurance on them?
