Hmmm.....what were those better teams ;) on probation that year?

well one of the teams had already lost to FSU during the regular season

Let me know how they fare against FSU this week. Something tells me that after Saturday's gale force winds beat down, that LSU gig will start looking better than ever to Jimbo.

NCAA Basketball moves to Greenville, SC from Greensboro NC as part of HB2 boycott.

March Madness is returning to Greenville.

The NCAA announced Friday morning that the first and second rounds of its Division I men's basketball tournament will be relocated to the Bon Secours Wellness Arena.

Furman University and the Southern Conference will serve as the official hosts of the event, which is scheduled for March 17 and 19.

The NCAA pulled the regional rounds of its premier championship event from Greensboro, North Carolina last month in protest of House Bill 2, the state law that restricts the use of public restrooms and changing rooms based on biological sex.

Bids were opened for relocation sites, and an organizing committee, composed of Furman, the SoCon, The Well and the Greenville visitors bureau, VisitGreenvilleSC, swiftly submitted a bid to end South Carolina's 15-year hosting hiatus.

Greenville was the last Palmetto State city to host the NCAA Tournament. That was in 2002.

After that season, the NCAA boycotted South Carolina, in response to the Confederate Flag flying at the statehouse. The flag was lowered last year, and the ban was lifted.

Greenville was selected over Louisville, Kentucky, Providence, Rhode Island, Jacksonville, Florida and Dayton, Ohio. Ticket presales for the event are scheduled to launch on Nov. 1 via NCAA.com.

The fact that Jacksonville did not get a single one of these events is inexcusable.

^ actually it's not.  The NCAA has made it clear they want to go to inclusive communities.  We once voted down HRO legislation, and then this year Mayor Curry convinced Council to sweep it under the rug.

Then its an unspoken, undocumented requirement by the NCAA.

I asked if any of those requirements were in any of the RFP's and I was told flat out "No".

The city of Greenville hasn't updated their HRO either, yet they're still hosting the NCAA Basketball Tournament.

Tufsu1, this is incorrect. Greenville also doesn't have citywide LGBT protections and isn't any more "inclusive" than cities passed over, including Jax but most especially Providence. The bigger issue with NC is that HB 2 actively discriminates against transgender people. Even cities without LGBT protections don't do that, and that is where the NCAA is drawing the line. This is more about putting pressure on NC to change a discriminatory law than about rewarding cities who check off particular inclusivity boxes.

^ unspoken?  They have been VERY clear about this

"Unspoken" means the NCAA hasnt had a presser to say, "we didnt choose  {insert city} because they dont meet our rules of inclusiveness.

THE LAST TIME MIAMI WON AT HOME VS FSU WAS OVER 12 YEARS AGO!!

ALMOST 4500 DAYS SINCE uOFm CELEBRATED A VICTORY ON THEIR OWN FIELD AGAINST THEIR MOST BITTER ARCH RIVAL.

Lake...perhaps its the curse of the Orange Bowl!
