Wonder if Jacksonville is working to get the ACC football championship game this December?  Hope so!

Can they have a game Sat night and then the Jags on Sunday at 1?  Or is that too quick of a turnaround?

Yup.  The money quote is here, from Rick Catlett's counterpart in Orlando:

"[Citrus Bowl Chairman Steve] Hogan said community leaders received a questionnaire from the ACC inquiring about the inclusiveness of the area, working to confirm legislation and ordinances were in place that would prevent a situation similar to the North Carolina controversy."

So, naturally, I'd like to know whether or not Jacksonville city leaders received the same questionnaire.

Empty seats in Tampa, empty seats in Jacksonville, the ACC is trying Florida for a 3rd time? We've never seen a football game become so politicized, and in the end, it will all be about the money.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

they've had empty seats in Charlotte too.  Unless the team come from closeby, its tough.

Rick Catlett from the Gator Bowl Association said on the radio (1010XL) that they were not interested in hosting it.  They may still have a bad taste in their mouth from the years they hosted it when the ACC made the GBA take the Championship game losing team for the Gator Bowl game where ticket sales suffered.

if the Atlantic champion is FSU, Clemson, or Louisville, they will be fine.  The empty seats in Jax. were years where the championship included BC or Wake Forest

Rick Catlett is a complete waste of space.  It is appaling to me that he is still running things at the organization formerly known as the GBA

University of Miami has not played in the ACC Championship game EVER, but if they make it this year to the game, at least one ticket will be sold.

I'm thinking about you, LAKE.

Lol, you got jokes! The way it's looking UM will be in that game.

On the other hand, we know for sure what team won't.....

The ACC game has always been tough, you can't count on the teams that draw well (FSU, Clemson, etc) getting in. However Charlotte is more centrally located to more of the schools - UNC or NC State fans (or Miami fans, for that matter) aren't going to turn out in big numbers to Orlando if they're in. This is more of a blow for Charlotte and NC than it is a boon for Orlando.

The year it was Georgia Tech and FSU, there were not many people in Charlotte

Which year? The 2012 game featured a 6-6 GT team that got in because two other teams were on probation and an FSU team that had its national title chances dashed by UF the week before. The 2014 game was a sellout and the most watched conference championship game that year.

Hmmm.....what were those better teams ;) on probation that year?

Some cheaters who don't draw well even when they're eligible ;)
