I noticed the former Gate Gas Station property on 3rd street has finally been leveled. Anyone know whats going there? It's a prime spot on 3rd street.

The beaches Town Center project looks great.  I'm interested in seeing (and eating at) the final result.

^Yeah, I hope the rest of the Beaches sees how beneficial and successful it is and more projects of that stripe appear in the future. Not holding my breath, though.

I wish the fine folks at Famous Toastery the best. But man, that location does not have a good track record.

I wasn't aware of the new Whole Foods opening at Pablo Plaza. It will be nice to have another location other than off San Jose.

The Habitat for Humanity homes turned out really well. I love how they have transformed the look of that area.

ZOMBIE THREAD ALERT!!!

It may be time to create a new Beaches Construction Update.  The momentum out there is really picking up.  Notable projects include:

The Jax beach town center area is about to get much denser and more upscale.  Interesting to see where the current population of Florida Men and beach rats move to.

^Noted. We'll get an update scheduled soon!

More exciting news for the beaches. Looks like this is going to be an awesome mixed use development in what has turned into a major eye sore.

Would have been far better as residential, that's really what the Beaches needs more of. But certainly better than a strip mall, especially a mostly closed one.

Would love to see a trip generation comparison between the original apartment proposal which was deemed too intense vs. the proposed commercial uses.

I would not be surprised to see that this will generate as much or more traffic than the original use.

That area also needs nice hotel options as well other than the One Ocean.

Recent quote of mine on the Kmart site at University and Beach:

QuoteI hope the Mandarin K-Mart turns out to be something other than more bedding stores, fast food places and a mini-storage.  I don't think Mandarin needs many more of these places.

I would love to see a version of Tapestry Park on the Mandarin property.
I think that's a great concept and surprised it isn't practiced more often.

Glad, for once, to see an idea of mine become reality :).  It's at the Beach... can they bring into town?
