Wow that looks bad. There was work going on there today with pavers being ripped up. I hope it is not for that.

First LaNopelera allegedly going in and now the hexagon? Ugh. San Marco Train Station has been derailed.

Hey, look at it from another angle... you'll have 6 to choose from after all.

I mean, it's got a brewery and a vegan restaurant too.. That's "trendy" right?

I clicked on this thread expecting to see a new MMA fight at the Landing.

Sounds cool. As it is now, that space is pretty underutilized. I wouldn't get to stressed out over that rendering.

I think it'd make a nice ice cream shop... Dreamette San Marco anyone?

And a Hurricanes!

That image looks weird, if only in that it's not how the property looks at all. However, if someone wants to build a hexagon there, power to them. It will be nice to get the rest of the property filled out. I'm surprised it hasn't happened yet, considering how fast (and expensively) most of the rest of the street has gone.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

The Hexagon! Great name lol, made me think of the good ole' Brian Fantana intro in Anchor Man . . . . .

underutilized is the criteria now? Using that argument would pretty much excuse any development over the years in Jacksonville.

My issue is that that structure will be blocking the brick bldg behind it which could be spectacular.

How do you know this? There's no site plan and that rendering doesn't suggest much of anything, other than them wanting to increase their ROI and outdoor activity on the site.

QuoteThere aren't exactly tons of great opportunities with buildings like that especially on that stretch of Hendricks. Can't wait to sit outside at (LaNopelera or whatever goes in there) and gaze at....the back of that building. Should be lovely. In other words, we won't. And we walk in that area quite frequently, can't wait to not have to look across a courtyard to that bldg. Would much rather look at some sweet retail.

Without seeing what this really will be, you're pretty much jumping to conclusions. I just help lead a tour about the development of this site the other week. From personal observation, there's seems to be more than enough room to add a retail kiosk closer to the tracks and still feature tons space for outdoor activity.

QuoteWhatever...I am likely in the minority as usual. It is the developers money and not mine so I can't criticize that much. . Hopefully, I am dead wrong and it will be "pretty cool" but based upon the quality of marketing materials alone, I expect it to be dreadful and other lost opportunity for something "really cool."

Again, at this point, all we've seen is a rendering that's clearly out of scale and not really reflective of what the final product will be.  It's way too early to have heart burn over the potential of a retail kiosk being added.

I just wish they'd stop calling it a train station.

thelakelander

True. The train station was located where Aardwolf's back parking lot is today.

^That's just a bad rendering. The second Panera is illustrated as if it's the older building being filled with a new use.

Oh, I know. I just mentioned that for thread clarification for readers in general.

And a Burrito place, KoC, 'underground' concert venue, JJs, J Mikes, Mediterranean place, multiple banks, sandwich shop, mart, jeweler, gym, smoothies, tennis courts, library, multiple churches, multiple yoga studios, a couple medical centers, and a slew of small local shops. Residences all around, and it's about a block away from a dive bar, two hotels, and a connection to the Skyway. This is basically the most densely and diversely populated several blocks in Jacksonville, for better or worse.

Edit: And bike lanes!

And it's a craigslist posting.
