At last night's big SPAR meeting, Alyssa Key shared that Southern Roots Filling Station, the vegan cafe & coffee shop, would be opening inside a portion of her building at 1st & Main (www.mainspacejax.com). The rest of the 1st floor would be multi-use event space. In the back of the building, outside, a highend beer garden will be established. The creative studio Crux Collective, already open on 8th Street, will be opening a second office, expanding to the 2nd story of her building as well. The 2nd story will also be home to Love Brigade, Alyssa's fashion label. There may be for a desk or two for others, well.

Bmorcreative, an interior design studio, will be opening on 8th Street, directly next to Crux Collective's existing office space. AND Motion Sweets will be opening next door as well.

A successful classic motorcycle repair shop is relocating from the Westside of town to 4th & Main, in the former Jeep repair shop, vacant for the past several years. Cycles on Main is the new name.

There's more afoot, as well.

Great to see the commercial energy beginning to catch up with the residential.

Now. They've been moving in over the last week.

Great news. Main Street is the biggest hurdle Springfield still has to overcome and projects like this go a long way.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Agreed.  Since moving to Jacksonville I have been puzzled by how much residential activity has been taking place in Springfield off of Main yet virtually no commercial or mixed use activity on Main Street.  Looks like that may be changing?  I still think Springfield needs a grocery store anchor on Main with apartments above that you can walk to.  Maybe a smaller Publix or perhaps Fresh Market or Trader Joes.  Something that provides goods that everyone in the neighborhood needs . . . . . groceries.  Same goes for San Marco, need to get the East San Marco project off paper and in the ground.
