QuoteTwo homes and several cars have recently been broken into in the Murray Hill area, and among the items stolen was one family's dog.
Joanna Madden lives in a home in the area and said last Monday she and her daughter had just gotten home from buying their Christmas tree when they walked inside and found the house completely ransacked. Two laptops, a few cameras, some jewelry and a PlayStation were gone.

Also missing -- their 6-pound Yorkie, Star. Madden said she doesn't think the dog ran away and hopes someone can help her find Star. The dog is 8 years old and was last wearing a red, green and brown sweater with a reindeer on it and a red collar with bells.
"It's probably at least $6,000 to replace all of that," Madden said. "That doesn't even count the dog. You can't replace a family member. (My daughter) can't even sleep at night."

Madden said her car was also broken into three months ago. She has since put up cameras for extra security.

If you see the dog, Madden is asking you contact her at joannamadden7@gmail.com.

After the story aired on News4Jax, Louis Stuart called and offered a $1,000 reward to anyone who returns Star -- no questions asked. His number is 904-591-5175.

I saw this story this evening and it is just sad.  If anyone living near the area sees a Yorkie roaming around, please refer to this story.   This just depresses me to see Murray Hill having an uptick in crime again just as the neighborhood has been on a great upswing.

I looked up a crime report map for MurrayHill for December robberies and it is just scary.  JSO really needs to step up their game and unleash a brigade of officers to this area of town.  It is a tragedy for the residents (many of whom are millennials) to have to deal with this amount of unwanted crime on a daily basis.  They need the help to kick the criminals out and keep others from coming in.

I have 9 rental properties in Murray Hill, not one person has complained that break-ins are anymore of an issue than they where when there were 8 to 10 houses on a block empty due to bank foreclosures.  So now there are fewer, people either need a gun, a dog or an alarm system to go with the half a brain they have.

It does not matter if they are 65 years old or 25 years old. Common sense does not lie in your ability to know how to use a smartphone!

I can't believe this happened. I never see anything suspicious on the way to my home. Damn crooks trying to hurt people! I hope they get caught

I moved out of Murray Hill back in June. However, when I lived there, our neighbors who lived across the street were the victims of a burglary. Somehow, the perpetrators got in the house in broad daylight and stole their brand new LCD TV, Xbox, and a few others things. This happened with most of my household (including our very alert dogs) home and a few of our other neighbors home, as well.

Those neighbors weren't the only ones to be burgled during my three years of living in the neighborhood. So unfortunately, this doesn't come as a surprise to me.
