Seems like Sbarro's failure is it's inability to adapt. I'm not saying that indoor malls are extinct by no means and I don't think they're going anywhere, but 2014 is definitively not the golden age for indoor malls; That would be when video arcades was the place to be. Sbarro shoehorned itself to indoor mall food courts and airports.

Look at it's other pizza competitors; Domino's, Pizza Hut, Papa John's, as they all have their own buildings with delivery. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to see why Sbarro is failing. Plus IMO their quality is very questionable. I bought a slice at the Avenues some months ago, and it wasn't even heated, as it was lukewarm.

It's closed. There's a Mom & Pop pizza place there now.

Sbarro pizza is pretty bad as far as pizza goes.  I don't know how anyone eats their stuff.  I think the cheap Totinos frozen pizzas you buy are better than Sbarro.

I travel a lot and see Sbarro in a lot of airports.  You know the food is nasty when it's the ONLY food place that doesn't have a line in most airports.  It's no wonder they're bankrupt - people aren't going to pay $10+ for lukewarm pasta, frozen pizza, and brown, wilty salads. Ew.

When I was in high school, my best friend worked weekends at the Sbarro at the Avenues. This played a part in my to this day only fond memories of the place, as we'd get stoned and eat the pizza he'd bring from work. Drugs are the only way to make their food edible.

But you shouldn't do drugs  :)
