MEGATRON

Thanks for this hot redneck mess called Luminaria. Amazing how an organization so worried about traffic and emergency response to the residents of Riverside and Avondale can promote this shitshow.

no. It sucks

I think the majority of residents in the neigborhood would disagree

Captain Zissou

I helped build kits, sell kits, set up for the event, and participated in it. RAP's intentions were as good as possible in regards to this. The way that some of the patrons behaved is beyond their control. On the whole, it was a great event. Thousands of people enjoyed the evening and communed with eachother in the holiday spirit.

Tacachale

Definitely a great event. I'm sure anything of that scale would have a few problems.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

If not, you're welcome.

I'm rolling my eyes at my self.

But really I think it's great.

I missed the event and would never want it to stop...I just really appreciate the irony.

You always have the option of staying away and not participating.  You also have the option of moving away if you don't like the things that make the neighborhood unique.
When all else fails hug the dog.

I think moving away would be better, or at least close your door, and turn off the lights.  It's like complaining about a TV show.  You can change the channel.  Why are you in Riverside, if you don't like events.  Maybe a condo would be a better option for you.

I used to love Luminaria.  I grew up in the area and it was always a wonderful way to get into the Christmas spirit.  Now, not so much and I am not alone in my feelings.  Its not enjoyable anymore.  And, eventually, there a kid will be seriously injured falling out of of UHaul trailer or getting run over by a car.

My point was to highlight the irony that the same organization that is so hellbent on retarding restaurant expansion, conducting traffic studies and dragging police in to tell us all how parking was going to lead to medical emergencies promotes this event.

So...one should move if they don't like something that's happening in the hood.
That will make for some interesting re reading of old threads. Where did I put that Commander thread, that's a good one to start with.

The event was amazing! People everywhere, still picking up marshmallows from the streets. Yeah, there are some little you know whats who throw hard candy, but next year, I plan to bring my Super Soaker and soak those you know whats with cold water. Anyhow, the people were great, yeah, its the redneck Christmas on the westside.

How could anyone fall out and hurt themselves, you are crawling along at less than 5 mph or stopped. We set ours out and then proceeded to go to the 5 parties we were invited to see. It was great. Sorry you feel that way, but RAP cannot police the event. Its bigger than just one group.
