The new trend of "faking out your boyfriend" through Craig's List

A new trend is forming in where women are selling their positive EPT tests on Craig's List to "fake out" their boyfriends. "Fake them into what" is the common reply.

The Las Vegas Guardian reports on this new trend.

I have to say, I am really disappointed in women today who would go to the trouble of faking out their boyfriends with the very real issue of pregnancy. It seems there has been a sudden insurgence of positive pregnancy tests being sold over Craigslist, marking a new low in trends to 'fake-out' your boyfriend. Really ladies? What is the point? Where some argue that making your boyfriend believe you are pregnant is a way to 'keep him', when the truth comes out that you lied – who wins?

This trend only speaks loudly of the need for women in this country, and in the world, to really claim their true divine feminine essence and stop messing around being half a woman. We are not defined by our ability to get pregnant, nor are our relationships 'stable' because we are with child. If you cannot build a solid foundation with someone based on who you really are, then you have no business bringing a child into the relationship anyway, real or made-up.

Even more disgusting is the latest article I read stating that women are using these 'fake tests' to get a 'fake abortion', tricking boyfriends and family members into giving them cash to support the procedure, which they then use for luxury and travel.  Really?  I am shocked.  What does this say about women today?

In this day and age we are surrounded by negative female archetypes showing us degraded and sexually defiled versions of our females selves. We do not have enough courageous, beautiful, confident, spiritual role models to emulate and look for as the truth we wish to embody. Instead, we are left to make up that woman ourselves, to find her within. If we are too scared to pull the one out of the hat that is lurking behind our name and face, we more often shamefully act out the unimpressive, irresponsible show-play of another woman who couldn't find herself- yet wasn't afraid to become famous.

The ads on Craigslist are from pregnant women who are willingly selling their positive tests to other women who want to fake out their boyfriends with the 'good news' that they too are with child. Hmmm. I wonder how long that story can last? Is the asked for price of $25-$30 really worth the lie you are actually selling? The broken relationship, the mis-trust and fear that will undoubtedly be stirred in the unsuspecting men? Already, there are men in this world who do not trust the results of a simple test, wondering deep down if their girlfriend is trying to trick them into staying. Is this really the kind of attitude we want to cultivate in this world?

And now, with the new low of a pretend abortion threatens a very real and intense process that many women choose to face, and hope to do so in a private, cared for manner.  With these new scandals, women who are truthfully going through the painful choice of keeping a child or not will be faced with possible skepticism and distrust from those who might come to know of her decision, including those closest to her.  True, if you are a truthful, honest person, this should not be an issue, but in today's world – people are easily persuaded to disbelieve.

Pregnancy, when it really happens, is a beautiful and miraculous thing. A blessing. A gift. We have degraded even this sacred act to be one of ownership and control. We have used our children to secure our own needs and to propagate unhealthy relationships under the guise of 'what is best' for the kids. What is best is that we grown-ups get our heads out of our backsides and start living from a place of responsibility, authenticity and truth. We need to trust that when we express our best selves, that life delivers the goods – the true goods – to us. All will 'work out for us' when we believe in ourselves, who we are and what we came here to do – if even just to be REAL.

Is it really worth the trip to the tropics or that new pair of shoes to fake out your boyfriend with lies of pregnancy and abortion?

Craigslist has been a place of treasure-hunting and discovery to this generation. The place people can go to find a job, a friend, a free couch, place to stay or ride across the country. Will we use this tool to deceive those we claim to love most? Will we use it to empower others to deceive? I am both embarrassed and ashamed of those sisters who would pull such a stunt in the name of love or revenge. This new trend of faking out your boyfriend using a Craigslist purchased pregnancy test is pretty low on the totem pole. Women, it's time to rise up and be who you were born to be. Find yourself and be true to her. She is beautiful. I promise.

Not sure, @spuwho, why you decided to post this article. I'll assume you are, as I am, in disbelief. How can you not be in disbelief when the writer has unintelligibly explained how half of the population on this entire country nay, this entire world is in trouble because of a very disturbing trend, some women are faking their pregnancies.

I'm thinking the writer should be more offended at how these trend setting women are faking their pregnancies. Do they not know that there are easier, cheaper and more sanitary ways to fake and/or trick a test. A simple google search will show you the way.

Highlights from the piece:

Quotesudden insurgence of positive pregnancy tests being sold over Craigslist, marking a new low in trends to 'fake-out' your boyfriend

This is golden, no pun intended. It's good to know that when it comes to faking a pregnancy there are different degrees of low. The least offensive way, I'm sure, is stuffing a pillow under the shirt and exclaiming "looks like I'm pregnant."

QuoteThis trend only speaks loudly of the need for women in this country, and in the world, to really claim their true divine feminine essence and stop messing around being half a woman.

This is just stupid and meaningless word splattering.

What does it say about women today? It says nothing about women.

As disturbing as faking an abortion might be the cost of the procedure is not turning these trend setters into made-women. The average cost of an abortion is around $300 to $500. So, if by travel the writer means a day trip to Daytona from Jacksonville and by luxury a fancy watch from Marshall's. Sure. These women are really getting over.

QuoteIn this day and age we are surrounded by negative female archetypes showing us degraded and sexually defiled versions of our females selves.

Well, let's hope they never show degraded and sexually defiled versions of your masculine selves because that would make as much sense as this sentence? What other versions of your "selves" would they show? I must be missing something.

...okay. I'm too tired to do this with the rest of the article.

Last one: You know, this is the first time I have seen anyone peg Craigslist.com as virtuous and as a place that was lacking in deception.

Why did this piece stick out to you?

#1 - It makes a statement about the nature of our "modern" culture
#2 - Yes, the writer seems to stumble over his own words at times, but if it was well written I guess I would have posted it under the Arts thread
#3 - I use Craig's List a lot to buy and sell and am amazed what people will throw out there, but this was a first
#4 - A recent friend had a run in relationship where a pregnancy/abortion threat was used to sway and ended when a follow up EPT showed negative. Not sure where the original EPT came from and when I saw this............

My take? If it takes a $25 fake EPT to get a boyfriends attention, then you are clearly dating the wrong guy.
