I think if your star QB is begging you to challenge a call, you trust him and challenge the call. And when he's justifiably upset that oyu didn't listen, you let him vent, you don't go get in his face and continues yelling. You have staff that will calm him down; as a head coach, you can't get caught up in a screaming match with a player.

I think you meant star CB, but I get the point.

I disagree. Even if Ramsey saw unquestionably that Hopkins dropped the ball and he was 100% right, that doesn't mean there's a camera angle that saw it.

Maybe if we're talking about a game changing play I'd see your point, but it's a 3 yard catch in the first quarter that put the Texans at midfield in a scoreless game. Not exactly game changing play.

Anyway, what's your take on the Ramsey sideline outburst? Not reviewing that play did result in 3 points for Houston. However, by the same token if Ramsey doesn't drop that INT later in the game, it's likely a pick six.

I think Ramsey showed a little emotional immaturity. I get he's frustrated - he's a competitor and he's up against one of the best receivers in the league. But, I think unlike the 2 Point call (which can be debated), I think Marrone absolutely got this right:

- It was a 3 yard catch. Yes, it was 3rd and 2 and got the first down, but it's not like this thing flipped the field.
- It was the first quarter.
- It didn't put them in field goal range.
- (Here's the key): I didn't see a clear cut camera angle that offered indisputable evidence that Ramsey was correct. Given the movement of the ball it's certainly plausible he was right. But, to challenge a play that you can't (quickly) find indisputable evidence on given the above three bullets, you don't challenge it.

If let's say it was a 50 yard catch that flipped the field in the 3rd quarter of a close game, maybe even with that camera angle you throw the challenge flag and hope for the best as that could be a game changing play. This was not.

Bottom line....coaches coach and players play. Even if the video evidence was indisputable that Hopkins dropped the ball, it's not on Ramsey to challenge. Yes, while it would show on the stat sheet that Ramsey gave up that catch, and let's say for a second it led to the only points of the game and the Texans won 3-0.  Nobody would question Ramsey or his abilities because of that play. That would be on Marrone. Do your job.

Speaking of do your job.....see "Dropped Pick Six, Ramsey." You have to make that catch.

Steve makes most of the bullet points I agree with.  The replays don't seem to clearly show that he didn't catch it, and ultimately it was a 3rd and 2 completion for 3 yards that put Houston at the 50. He bobbles it, but looks like he regains control without the ball ever hitting the ground. Not enough to win a challenge, but then again, maybe someone else's eyes are better.

The field goal was kicked from the JAX 21. That one small completion shouldn't have made a difference. Otherwise if it does; then Ramsey's dropped INT and Campbell missing a fumble recovery should be way bigger points as those would've given the Jags the ball well inside Houston territory (if not returned for a TD). Let's also not forget about Minschew's 3rd fumble (only one lost) at our own 20 giving Houston an easy TD.

Ultimately it's all hindsight. I see and appreciate what you are saying about OT but our offense only lit up when it was forced to throw to gain chunks of yardage because time was running out. Houston's defense also weirdly softened up once they scored the TD seemingly to protect the lead. With a short week, I think a 2-pt conversion is the right call. If you can't get 2 yards to win, especially with Houston's defense on their heels, then we shouldnt've won. OT gives HOU a change to recover as well.

Clearly this didn't comedown to one call making the difference but it is the one we focus on since it's the last call. Either way, the fourth quarter was fun to watch and that's something that's been missing since 2017.

^It looked pretty clear to me that the ball was dropped, based off the reviews they showed on tv (and that one you just posted). But I could go either way on the argument of challenging or not. The argument to challenge would be you get a few each game, might as well use them. Mid field with a fresh set of downs is only 10 to 15 years from a FG attempt, depending on the kicker or at least flipping field position. If overturned, they're immediately punting and that chance of 3 potential points is dramatically reduced.

As for the dropped pick six, if that's Deion Sanders or Ed Reed, without a doubt, they're dancing in the end zone. if Ramsey wants to be considered the best and paid like it, those are the plays the best tend to make. But yeah, the player shouldn't be throwing hands at the head coach, regardless of the circumstance.

What the Jalen Ramsey and the decision to go for two instead of having faith in the defense and offense to prove themselves for at least one more possession confirms my biggest concerns about Coach Marrone: Not only does he make reckless coaching decisions, but his style is manifesting itself with a lot of the younger players in the team.

The first warning sign was when he ran up the score on the Jets last year and had a blasé attitude toward his reasoning. It's all fine and good when you're successful but as soon as the losses piled up we saw incident after incident of players who would normally keep it together when provoked get riled up easily or showing disinterest.

And now in just 2 short weeks we're seeing these same self destructive behaviors and decision making in full bloom. I'm not saying this is all the coach's or organization's fault but there needs to be some serious discussions concerning management.

I don't remember if I read it or heard it in a post-game (I think it was Minshwe's post-game), but they sent in 2 plays - a run and a pass - depending on which look the defense gave them.  Minshew said he got the look from the Defense to hand the ball off, so that's what they ran.

Norwell and Cann are now both liabilities in the middle of our line.  I'm not sure who's gotten worse since he left Carolina, Norwell or Cam 'Bodyguard' Newton...  I digress....

Thursday is now a must win.  Which is a abso-fucking-lutely AWESOME scenario in week 3.  And we get that game at home against the Titans.  Jurrell Casey is watching the film from last week and licking his chops.

I'll be in Section 105 either amazed that we're playing a competitive game or contemplating on what I'm going to do with free Sundays this year.

The titans game is looking like the must win of must wins. Crap division is very winnable and suddenly the Saints game is much easier. But this could get really ugly if they lose Thursday.

On a ticket note, I see I can get club seats for 50% off face. Oof.

Luck retires.  Saint's game is now winnable.  Newton looks like ass.  Darnold with mono.

Minshew has promise, but seriously... we lost Foles 10 plays in.

Snakebit doesn't even remotely justify how I feel about this franchise.

It's great to be an NFL owner. Team sucks and still more than doubles in value...... Not too many industries where you can pull that off.

Let's say Minshew Mania hit Manhattan big time. Was watching the game at St Pats pub as the home site of the Jags in NYC and place was pretty crazy over Minshew all game and then absolutely nuts at the end.

Look on the bright side. Even though their records are the same, you could be historically bad like the Dolphins.

The Dolphins may be a great place to send Ramsey... or the Jets...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

$160 million in cap space and 7 of the top 65 picks in next year's draft. They can afford him and if they can do this tank right, will be more competitive than the Jags in another year or two in a Tom Brady-less AFC East. I'm sure they'll throw a 2nd round pick to Jax if Ramsey is willing to let South Beach drown potential short term sorrows of an 0-16 season. But that scenario gives Ramsey the last laugh.

For argument's sake, could the Jags afford to keep Ramsey and Ngakoue anyway?  Is it one or the other, not both?  Further, is Ngakoue feining an injury because he is disgruntled?

You know Stidham is going to be better than any QB the Dolphins trot out there.

Lol perhaps! However, I'll take my chances that a combination of a retired Tom Brady, a butt load of cap space and +12 picks in the first three rounds of the next two drafts will leave them in better position than overpaying for big names and going .500 year after year.

Jalen deleted all pictures of the Jags on his instagram.  He's clearly handling this in a mature and civilized manor.
