The Jacksonville Jaguars

What a stupid, arrogant column by Bianchi. Like the Jaguars owe Orlando something for them gifting us Blake Bortles. Hope whoever picks up Jameis Winston in coming years is ready to give Tallahassee a game. Silly entitlement.

That said, I don't hate the idea of giving Orlando a regular season game if and when the London partnership ends. I especially love the idea of swapping one NFL game for a handful of Magic games. It's a really novel idea that would promote a lot of synergy betweent the two cities. Heck, in a dream world, it might even catalyze rail between the Jax and Orlando (I know, I dream).

Does that bother you... coming from a hack sports writer in Orlando??

Is anyone watching the Jaguars State of Franchise? Khan has huge plans for stadium. If someone went last year, and didn't return for 5 yrs, they'll think we built an entire new stadium. Also, Khan is definitely pushing for Shipyards. Wants to expand Jaguar facilities there. There is a presentation, not sure how to link it. Currently streaming but I'm sure there'll be links to come. Very impressed.
Proud supporter of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Becoming more and more obvious that the London 4 year deal was really needed.  This has allowed them to at least maintain and even increase local revenues while they clean up the mess Weaver left. I love the Weavers for what they mean to our community but they kind of just let the Jags slip into oblivion the last years.  And yea stadium upgrades will continue to be an issue and part of the long term viability of the Jags remaining here.

I will have to watch it when I get home. I really appreciate how open they are about the franchise. I think we deserve the right to know how the franchise is doing. Just read several tweets on Jacksonville.com and one stated that they want to keep shorts long term and have been in contact about a new deal. Everybody knows shorts is my favorite player. I respect anyone who works hard and exceeds expectations. He also keeps his nose clean and is a leader on the team. He's the only Gene Smith draft pick that was truely a diamond in the ruff. Gus also said he will play in the slot alot this year.

I think Weaver just had too much on his plate. He tried to run the entire franchise by himself. He tried his hardest but thinks just seem to get worse over time. I agree about the london games. They are bringing in money and plugging a hole until they can justify raising ticket prices AKA when the team start winning. I could care less about us not being popular. One thing about Jax this is our team, as long as we support it, thats all that matters at the end of the day  ;D

I think the London game not only buys time until they win but more importantly while they add the unique premium seating being added now and the new video boards to drive local revenue.   They also showed some neat concept for the club seat areas. I don't think those changes are planned yet, just conceptual at this point.

1993 called, they want their column back.

Kind of embarrassing that this Jerry Greene guy actually considers this to be fresh, relevant material.

Tom Sorensen and Woody Paige wrote this exact same piece two decades ago when Jacksonville had far thinner skin.

Cliched and lazy to the point that the Sentinel really should have known better.

It's also unfortunate to see stuff like this. Jacksonville and Orlando are two very different cities that are less than two hours apart. We both have a lot to gain by being partners, rather than adversaries. Seems like the Orlando folk can't resist knocking on Jacksonville though. It's gonna be hilarious when they complete their $200 million stadium renovation (a similar renovation, it's worth noting, to the one that Jacksonville did over 20 years ago) and start demanding Jags games, all because our quarterback was one of UCF's 65 million students.

Also, apparently Rick Pitino was in town today at Gus Bradley's request to talk with Jags players.

Also, the Jags made it officially official yesterday that the new scoreboards would broadcast NFL Red Zone.

Can't wait to see his proposal, he puts in 50 million and the city is responsible for 150 million, kinda like the scoreboards. The guys is worth 4 BILLION, let his own money ride a business initiative in Jax. Let's see his cards.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."

You'd be grasping at straws too if you had to live in Orlando, a city with the character of a McDonald's ball pit.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

^Haha. Orlando has a major chip on its shoulder as the only city of the big 4 to not have its own beach, not to mention its lack of history and character. Orlando desperately tries to perpetuate that Jax is the worst city in Florida, and to some extent is able to do so with more outside visitors, more national exposure, and a larger media presence...however, I think many native Floridians, especially those north of I-4 know that Orlando is the runaway winner as worst city in Florida.

That said, Orlando does have some nice areas like Winter Park, and their downtown has come a long way recently.
