I hope part of the Khan future upgrades includes another Bud Zone type area. It is nice, but gets way too crowded. Maybe another one on top of the North End Zone?? It is really difficult to get a sold out game for any preseason game, no matter the city. I think we should be proud of the 50-60 k that came. That bodes well for the regular season.

Times Union said the attendance was 62,474. Lots of empty seats though, including the covered ones, maybe everyone was in the Bud Zone???

I watched a few other games from around the league this weekend. Our attendance looked either as good, or better, than most of the games I saw.

62,474 is total tickets distributed, not physical attendance.  The only team that actually reports physical attendance is the Steelers.  I would guess we had in the mid-50k range in attendance, but that's still good for preseason compared to most of the rest of the NFL.  Even the Jacksonville haters at ProFootballTalk noticed.

That tickets-distributed figure is still a good sign because it's well above the total tickets distributed at the preseason games last year.  It's similar to what we had at the two preseason games in 2010.  I don't think we'll have any literal sellouts this year, but we are probably not at blackout risk.  I understand the two games that have the most tickets available are the first two, Houston and Cincinnati, and hopefully both will have strong single-game and half-pack sales because one's the opener and the other has Fred's inauguration into the Pride.

lol that's kinda sad that Winn-Dixie is what we have to use for marketing for welcoming people to Jacksonville.

I wouldn't interpret it that way.  I think it is probably a Winn-Dixie promotional effort since Jacksonville is their headquarters.  Much like for at least 10 years on 95 southbound right below the airport exit, there was an Independent Life billboard with "Welcome to the home of Independent Life" on it.

Jaxson's presence was probably because Winn-Dixie is the official supermarket of the Jaguars and very supportive of the team.

Can't think of his name, but our DE on the right side, playing on 3rd string needs to get a look with the 1s or 2s - so freaking fast off the ball - even if he's only in on passing plays, he was unreal.

Selvie?  Morgan?

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I think they have this sort of thing in mind, in conjunction with getting rid of the image the tarps create.  The Redskins reduced seating capacity by about 10,000 and created a party zone instead.  I think you might see the Jaguars reconfigure the stadium at some point, keeping capacity the same as it is now but replacing seats with party zones instead of tarps.  I am pretty sure Lamping floated this concept at some point.

As long as we have tarps, I'm glad local companies are buying advertising on them, though.  I noticed web.com put its logo on the end zone ones.

I've said it before, but it bears repeating.  I see the North End Zone getting a similar treatment, but it will be a family zone - not a party zone.  Think playground instead of night club.  It would totally go with the family zone that we've already branded on that side of the field.  Plus, with the flat area and removable fixtures, you would be able to add even more seating for that one game a year that drives the other 10.

Well Well well we just know everything today dont we?  ;D But I didnt know that though. It looked packed though. Its hard to judge sometimes because so many stay inthe bud zone and never sit in their seats. But compared to some others ( like miami whose stadium was half empty), we had a good showing for sure. If this season goes really good, I think we can get close to a sell out for a few games... Maybe 65,000

Majority of people in Jax I would venture to say don't even use WD as their go to choice for grocery shopping, though I do appreciate the Fuel Perks thing. Ok... well that's way off topic. Was the sign way out on the Chaffee end of I-10?

Nah it was going into downtown

If we're ahead of 2010 (as it would appear), where we had 63,000-63,700 at almost every game, I hope we can hit 65,000 a few times this year.  Especially if we have a winning record and there's a lot of single-game ticket sales motivation.  Like in '07 when we sold 61-64k for the first few home games and then got within a few hundred tickets of a sellout late in the year (and had one literal sellout).

We have to keep in mind that there are a lot of season ticket holders in the middle / end of the first 30/30 offering.  So there are a lot of 'repeat' customers regardless.

Now, if we can perform this year - at least show some solid promise, think of the renewal rate.  Again, the Jaguars Front Office is good at getting a 3 year commitment.  I think the best thing we could hope for is for the 30/30 deal to end.  That will be the proof I need to know that we're on solid ticketing ground.

Lee Evans released...

Give it to the staff (again!), but it appears to be mutual... (from jaguars.com)

QuoteEVANS RELEASED
The Jaguars on Sunday released veteran wide receiver Lee Evans.

They also the same day signed six-year wide receiver Demetrius Williams and guard/center Josh Beekman, placing wide receiver Taylor Price on injured reserve. Beekman’s signing came amid news that three-year veteran John Estes could be out for the season, according to Mularkey.

Estes sustained a knee injury that will require surgery, and while Mularkey said it’s too early to know for sure the extent of the injury, he said Estes’ injury didn’t look good.

“He’s going to miss for sure the rest of the preseason,” Mularkey said.

Mularkey said Evans, whom he coached in Buffalo in 2004 and 2005, “just wasn’t the same player, obviously.”

“I think he felt the same way,” Mularkey said. “It’s always difficult. I’ve been in that chair. I’ve known Lee a long time. I was hoping we could get another year out of him. I think he was, too. It’s disappointing.”

Mularkey said Evans struggled to get in and out of breaks, and that Evans approached him last week. That led to the decision not to play Evans Friday, then to his release Sunday.

“The route-running, it looked like it was hurting him on some of those breaks,” Mularkey said, adding that Evans may retire. “I don’t think that will ever go away. We had talked in the last week. He approached us and he recognized he wasn’t the same guy on film.”

Whatever, man.  I'm recommending to everyone here, right now, that we need to pressure you into streaming your FB feed here during the games.  Vic who?

That's much appreciated sir.  Especially coming from you, as I always enjoy your comments greatly.  This is the first time I've been able to comment that abundantly during a preseason game because I'm technologically backward, to say the least, and just now got high speed internet at home.
