Not terribly excited, but I could be surprised. He was a head coach once before, and it didn't go well in Buffalo, but they had a weak roster IMO.

They also had a QB dilemma that year as well. And we know first hand how much of a mess that can be. I actually like him because he expressed how he felt about the direction of the Bills franchise and they didn't wanna listen to him so he stepped down. To me it atleast shows he has some passion and does not settle for mediocrity, unlike Del Rio.  And to be fair, Buffalo still has not put together a winning team to date. So their issue is way beyond the HC.

lol just like our problem might be beyond our head coaching issue. I'll be sorta surprised if Gene is here once his 3 year extension is up OR if he even survives those 3 years. Mr. Kahn has said he's definitely not going to be as patient as Mr. Weaver was.

Oh trust me I stated previously post ours was beyond HC issues. We had bad management, bad drafting, bad Qb's etc. But I wish everyone would stop calling for Gene's head. The roster was gutted and started from stracth, that is huge.  Completely re-budiling a team is not going to happen overnight for sure. I say this year we will see the fruit of Gene's labor. If not, he may get the boot. I think as fans we want every to happen like yesterday and forget to be realistic.

And of course they have found the first thing to pounce on Khan about. I knew this was coming. Yes his statement was a bit straight forward and blunt but come one lets stop being babies. He stated that "real fans are season tickets holders". It was a poor choice of words, but I understood what he meant.

Yep, in context it was clear he didn't mean "If you can't afford tickets, you're not a fan" but "I will listen to the ticket buyers' opinions, not those of the fence-sitters who always have an excuse for not buying but want to armchair GM this team to death."  Of course, heaven forfend that the Jacksonville media and the casual fans not assault him for it.

Man this is sad Wacca! This is a sad, sad city. These "fans" are going crazy and the season has not even started yet. I found that in Jacksonville, there no way to please the fans. But wait let the Gators have a few losing seasons and they will still wear their orange and blue. But you know they will change their tune. Let us get a couple of good drafts, they'll be right back trying to renew their season tickets.

Then, people are scared because Khan wants to play a game in London? And?? The NFL is trying to get several teams to play a game over there every season. Goodell approached WW last season and he said no because he didnt wanna fuel speculation that we were moving.. And thats the problem. When are we going to get over the negativity and move on? Jags fan have become the most whinning, sensitive fans I have ever  seen! Its time for this franchise to grow up and the fans included. Khan is trying to take the franchise to the next level and everyone wants to whine and critizie everything already without giving anything a chance. Sometimes, I hate to say it, but I dont think there is a solution for this franchise or fan base.... I hope things change.

I'd love a game in London...how cool would that be, when traveling abroad, for locals to actually recognize that Jacksonville is a city in the USA and the Jags are a world-renowned football team??? Common guys, open your eyes. Also, it'll ease the "blackout-burden" here at home!

^The Gators have not had a losing season since 1987. That's most of the reason people in Jax and the rest of the state still "bleed orange and blue" even when they have a (relatively) weak season.

But as with anything folks will tire of it if they don't turn it around - just look at their unspectacular Gator Bowl attendance this year. Or look at FSU - from the late 70s through about 2003 they rivaled the Gators both on and off the field. Then their armor started to chip and within a few years of awful-to-mediocre seasons they're way behind. Miami was similar. See a pattern?

Many (perhaps most) fans are pretty fickle and uninformed, and just want to whine. But with the Jags right now, for a lot of them their skepticism, anxiety and ennui comes from a very real place - they're tired of the standing culture of mediocrity and want to start seeing some rays of hope. I can certainly identify that. We all know what will change minds - consistent winning seasons and playoff runs. Let's hope we can deliver. I have a feeling this will be our year.

We could also agree to play a game in London without necessarily being the host of that game and losing a home game off the schedule.  Khan never said explicitly that he'd like the Jaguars to be the deemed home team for a London game.

Youi right, but at the same time whining and complaining just makes it much worse Trust me I feel the same way everybody does but I just whine about it, just my personality i guess. I give things a chance before I speak doom and gloom about everything. I just let the situation unfold, then make my observations.  I hope this is our year cause these fans are borderline suicidal LOL

I think he was the best assistant coach out there....and to be honest, I'd rather have an offensive guy than someone like Bill Cowher, Tony Dungy, or Jeff Fisher.

Why list coaches that aren't available for ANYONE to get? That's only being reasonable right? Why not add Jon Gruden while you're at it? Fisher is the only one we had a chance to get, and he's more than likely a lock to take the St Louis gig (he's highly overatted anyway with that subpar overall record at TEN).

Like most are saying on MJ, the Mularkey hire is solid, not a fist-pumping exciting coach pick by no means, but I'm gonna wait to see how things play out with free agency, the draft, and the assistants. It seems like the overall approval is mixed almost right down the middle. Of course the idiot very vociferous Negative Nancys many who aren't Jag fans anyway are gonna overplay this supposed 'doomsday decision' but their are also alotta quiet reasonable real Jag fans who aren't blown away with Mularkey, but they think it's just an okay hire; They're waiting waiting to see how everything plays out. Alotta people forget JDR was that 'splash' guy when he first got the job; Remember the resurgence in ticket sales, All Jack'd up, and no more three yards & a cloud of dust? I'd rather have a low key, understated coach whos gonna go in their and kickass than vice-versa.

Right...outside of 1 Super Bowl appearance, and many mediocre seasons, not sure what Fisher's huge plus is.

I-10, it is actually being said he will go to Miami because he is not fond of the idea of possiable relocation. I can understand that coming from him because he already went through that once with the Oilers/Titans.  We will see how true that statement is though.

But I actally dont see us tanking next year unless we ROYALLY screw up during the draft and freee agency. The only thing missing this year was a passing a game. If you can get that in check and get a little better field position from our special teams (which was a struggle this year.) We will be fine. We are not as far from winning as we seem to think we are. I think the Chaos of the season made things unbearable this year.

And Khan made a statement saying he was just joking. Even if you look at the press conference, everyone laughed when he said it. Looks like everyone caught the joke except for the fans. But it was meant to be sarcastic. Im very sarcastic myself, so I can read between the lines. LOL

Damn - people are so freaking sensitive.

On a positive note, the Jags are keeping Mel Tucker as Defensive Coordinator & they have hired hire Falcons quarterbacks coach Bob Bratkowski to be Offensive Coordinator.

Yea our good ole fans,. what can you say? I said the same thing. Some people in this city are idiots. They dont give anything or anyone a chance. As soon as he made a comment that was uncomfortable, everybody is dismissing him as a good owner. But Ive realized NFL fans in general on crack, but Jags fan are on crack and Crystal Meth  ;D
Im pleased were keeping Mel Tucker as well. As far as offense, if we can get them to number 20 in the  league, that would be a DRASTIC improvement from this season. And with the way our defense is playing, we can win next season no doubt. Im not the one to predict playoffs, but I do see us having a winning record. Hell, thats a start LMAO
