Well, finally stopped being lazy and joined. I've lived in the Tampa area all my life (suburban southern Pasco off I-75 for y'all who know that area) and I've become very interested in urban planning. But I don't have years of expertise like some of you guys on here do. However, I do agree with everyone here (after reading nearly every darned article on this site :D) that Jacksonville is way too car oriented and you need a dense urban core instead of having nothing outside the center being taller than two stories.

I first came to this site a couple months ago without a clue about Jacksonville when I was looking for old pictures of Downtown Tampa, and the best one I found out of hours of searching came from this site. Then I got hooked on your Elements of Urbanism series. I read the hilarious journey of Stephen Dare riding JTA, the article about the Union Station tunnels being intact, and everything in between. Now I can tell someone where Hogan's Creek is, the Amshack station, and many other places in Jacksonville. I've also gotten alot out of your articles from the perspective of someone learning urban planning.

Now hopefully I can join in on the discussion instead of being the one that just increases your website hit count.
