Hey there! I'm new to the forums and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Jason and I live in the City Place condo building on Ashley St. (across the street from KBJ and the Ambassador Hotel).

I have lived downtown since May of 2007 and was told about the Metro Jacksonville Forums by one of your active members (02roadking) while enjoying happy hour at Marks! Thanks a big bouncy bunch for letting me know about this wonderful online community!

I attend college at the FCCJ downtown campus where I am studying for Nursing / Anesthesia. I am hoping to find a job downtown very soon - that way I can live, work, play and learn - all in the same location and the nearby surrounding areas.

My interests are many; I have played guitar (classical) for 15 years and truly have a passion for the arts, whether it be music, illustration, design, and the written (or spoken!) word. I also love saltwater reef and aquarium keeping, antique grape tasting, bicycling, and albeit quite difficult in a condo unit, also love horticultural science. I suppose I can still appreciate gardening and landscapes outdoors while being limited to planters and containers indoors!

I hope to get to know everyone and look forward to actively participating in the forum!

Welcome!  I also enjoy Marks happy hour... :)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Welcome!

Say, how's life in City Place?

Welcome, get into SPR when you can too. We have great people, and even better parties here in SPR.

Along the guitar line, Im still reeling that the guitar I learned on is now an 'antique'.I dont know the year it was made, but its an original Charvel/Jackson, with a Floyd Rose tremolo. Im gonna have to do some digging, but Im curious if its worth anything. I dont play it much since my wife bought me my Gretch a few years ago.

I'll be honest -- I haven't the slightest idea what you're talking about.  I did a story on Hodges about a year ago and one of the things he did was craft a guitar out of a tree which had been located behind Callahan's Town Hall.  He is a luthier.
May the road rise up to meet you.

And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Welcome my Friend (Jason is it?); glad to have you aboard.  Though I live in West Central Florida, I lived in Jax for a long long time, was born in Jax, and are intimately familiar with all issues whether political, economical, or whatever as they relate to Jax.  We have a ball in this forum, come to fistocuffs at times (LOL, kidding, but ask Stephendare), and all of us whether born in Jax or implants are rooting hard for this city to fully awaken. Cheers mate!

Thanks everyone for the greeting - it's a pleasure to see such an active online community!

City Place so far is great. I'm on the 12th floor, in a tricked out studio space with a downtown skyline view that is to die for.

The developer of this building left the association in total debt with no reserves over a year ago. Yet with the new courthouse being two streets away, albeit not agreeing totally on the amount of money being spent, along with the newly planted topiaries out front, certainly brings a ray of hope to our little 'vertical' community.

As far as guitars, I play a Jose Ramirez 4E. It's a handcrafted student model guitar from Madrid, Spain with a tonality and richness equal to its concert quality counterpart.

Charvel/Jackson guitars are modeled after Fender, as far as I know. But with a Gretsch I'm certain you can hit the notes and tremolo and bend just as well as almighty Chet Atkins could  ;D

If I could go back in time I would have most likely sought to purchase my latest guitar from a more local luthier, as Jose Ramirez guitars are fantastic and all, but a lot of the price is due to the name. I'm sure a local luthier could have produced a concert quality instrument for the same price as the "high end" student model that Ramirez creates.

Is SPR = Springfield?
