Go JAGS!

What a crying shame.  We have a winning NFL team and the citizens will not even support them. If it's not the Gators playing who cares, is the sense I get. It is very sad.  When the Jags decide to up and leave it will be no ones fault except the citizens of Jax.

Exactly. Thanks to these fake-ass college-minded fans. That's why I can't stand the Gators, and I hope that they go below .500 for the next fifty years! (sorry about rufflin' feathers) No other college team don't have such a stranglehold on Jax like those damn Gators, and I'm sick of it! College football has a computer to decide who's the champ; Nuff said. Wanna know what's a real Jag fan; Real Jag fan don't care about which Jag game to watch; Real Jag fans given the financial opportunity, will go to the Texan game, the Bills game, the Panthers game, the Raiders game, the Falcons game; Fake-ass Jags fans will only go to the Steeler game, the Dolphin game, the Bucs game, the Packers game, the Colts game etc. I can only hope that Jax will keep it's NFL team for a long time, but it's lookin' bleak with all of these college-minded yahoos/ front-runnin' bandwagoners in this city.

If the JAG's up and leave, it won't be the fault of the Gators, their fans or the season ticket holders, we did or did not have... It will be a pure $$ decision based on TELEVISION market share. In that respect, we could pack the stadium twice every weekend and still be much smaller then other markets. This is why the league will put a team back in the Los Angeles area... even though LA could care less, and probably won't put 15,000 fans in the stadium!!! But when the TV market is in the 20 MILLION bracket, that equals HUGE $$$... Everything is richer, revenue from ad's, sponsorships, spotlight, image, national sales etc... Every WB kiddie show will have the basic Apple Computer in the bedroom and the LOS ANGELES NFL team logo toys on the wall or desk. EVERY kid in the nation that watches those shows, will then WANT the apple computer and the LOS ANGELES NFL logo toys... BUCKS $$$ pure and simple. Against that kind of competition, it won't matter how much we "support" our team, even our best will pale. There is NOTHING we can do if they decide to stack our market against a Los Angeles in a future team move.

On the positive side, looks like our owner loves JACKSONVILLE and as long as he is around, and the team is somewhere around break even, he can make up a share in the national revenue sharing, or, in sales of toys. If we continue to do good on the field, and gain national attention, it will only help the teams position in those types of sales. So it's important that we continue to sell JACKSONVILLE. Not just it's team, all of it's teams. In directly, selling someone on the Gators, Noles or Dogs, might result in them moving into our area. As our area grows, so does the TV market share and the revenue. The more we can offer the sports fan, the larger our population - the larger the population, the larger the TV market share = More income for our teams!

GO GATORS! GO NOLES! GO DOGS!

and

GO JAGUARS!

...So goes Jacksonville...

OK OK - L.A. has lost 2 franchises, so, why bother?  The tv market was relative then as it is now, I'm sure.....Also, although embarrassing, we're NOT the only market struggling with ticket sales.  This season alone, BOTH Bay area teams have had blackouts in addition to St. Louis, Minnesota, & Atlanta.  I may be missing others.  I think it just takes time to regain trust as well as foster a generation of fans (when I ask grade school kids who they root for, it's ALWAYS - "The JAGS, OF COURSE".  Its the "OF COURSE" part that seems so encouraging.  This team lost it's identity when the likes of Brunell, Boselli, Smith, McCardell, Smeenge, Jurko, etc. all departed.  It seemed that they were recognizable within the community as well.  The jury's still out on so many of our draft picks of recent years - This new regime including Drew, Mathis,Taylor (for now) & whomever else will hopefully carry the torch..............

BTW, the Jags have until Friday at 1:00 pm to sell the remaining unsold non-premium tickets.  Here is an excerpt from jaguars.com:

QuoteDave from Waunakee, WI: I haven't seen any mention of TV blackouts lately. Has “The Jack” been full for the latest games and that issue temporarily put behind us?
Vic: Two games have been blacked-out this season: Atlanta on Sept. 16 and Houston on Oct. 14. Monday evening, I announced that 3,500 general-bowl tickets remain unsold for Sunday’s game against Buffalo. That’s how many have to be sold by one p.m. on Friday for the game to be shown on TV in Jacksonville. The blackout deadline has been moved back a day because Thursday is Thanksgiving.

Thanks Riverside.  3500 (now its likely less) should be easily sold by friday, IMO.  Blackout or not, the stadium usually sits at or near capacity bacause it is typically pretty easy to get tickets at the gate.

Your exactly right, it will sell out before game time, or close to it, even if its blacked out. The thing I hate is the perception that there is NO support for the Jags that just not true. THE JACK is rocking every Sunday blackout or not. TV Ratings for Jags games are high and in most cases higher than college games shown in town. Jaguars Morning Drive radio shows draw more listeners than other any other morning radio show. Its not like the Jags only draw 45k for a game, we are roughly 3500 season tickets short of not even having this discussion. I understand a lot of people cant afford season tickets but if you can, I encourage you to buy them, my wife and I bought them for the first time this year, and it was the best 1000 bucks we have spent, we have created some great memories, I love being downtown for game time, so much that we are entertaining the idea of moving from the suburbs to downtown sometime in the future. That’s why I am on this site, to figure out what is going on downtown.

GO JAGS!

Check this out guys, Garrard's passer rating is 104.6.  That puts him in 4th place in the NFL.

Officially blacked out. No big shock

Jason

Well they still pulled off a big win.  Because of Houston's and Tennessee's losses, the 8-3 Jags are a solid playoff contender and still have a shot at taking the division.  All that's needed is a win next week against the Colts.  Man, this season is really turning out to be a great one!

Go JAGS!!!

Great game. The stadium was full and it the weather was nice.  Too bad it wasn't aired on local TV.            Go JAGS!!!

assorted

They distributed 64,500 tix which is 96% sold.  The blackouts are helping the gameday walk up sales which is the only thing that matters to Weaver

Another nice win by the Jags. Now let's go to Pittsburgh and beat the hated Steelers.
