Thanks Jax news for the notice of the I-10 / 95 lane shifts

I did not see one news story and I am not sure when it happened, but on my normal commute to work today traveling 1-10 East towards 95 South, they have shifted 1-10 onto a  new section of roadway which kind of zigs to the left and to get onto 95 south over the fuller warren, you have to zag back to the right through some contstruction barrels and such. Going 95 North, looks like a new ramp is open.

We had the same experience coming back into town late last night on I-10 and exiting on Stockton Street. OMG, what is going on? Our warning was all the blacked out highway signs before our exit.

We are terrible with warning people of detours and lane shifts and in your case the Stockton street exit has been completely changed. I mean how hard would it be to pull out one of those temp flashing signs and place it a mile out warning of a issue? All you normally get is a police car at the detour waving you back, and if youa re out of town.. good luck on trying to find your way to where you wanted to go.

All  I know is that coming I-10 E to 95 N was a WHOLE lot easier this morning. I didn't have to play Speed Racer to get over and exit Monroe like usual.

yea this whole thing wierded me out too....just driving along like normal going from 10 north onto 95 to forsyth and all of a sudden i'm going over this new bridge/overpass thing. it just confused me as it was still early and hadnt had my coffee!

I got something in the mail about the I-10 eastbound entrance from Stockton closing.... Which made me quite sad... as the detour adds like 15 minutes to my commute each morning

Are you trying to take I-10 to I-95 south? I used to use the Stockton Street ramp to get on I-10 to go 95south and when they closed it I just go down Post St, cross Margaret, turn left on Park St and up on the onramp to 95South. Actually cut my commute time by a few minutes.

Hopefully this construction will make the Roosevelt entrance to 10E a little easier to use. With the current Stockton exit, it is dangerous.

The new layout creates what appears to be "express lanes" if you will from east of Roosevelt to I-95, so that traffic doesn't mix with the Roosevelt Entrance, Stockton Interchange, and Forest/Forsyth/Monroe exits.

the entire interchange will be that way when complete...which will alleviate the "weaving" issues that existed....for example, I-95 will be 10 lanes wide, but will be separated into a 3-2-2-3 configuration going over the railroad viaduct bridge

10, that'd qualify as the widest section of road outside of SoFla, if the entire state.

not really....the part SR 60 near the Tampa airport will be 12+ lanes wide counting all the sepate ramps/splits

I checked on my recollections and it appears that the New Jersey Turnpike (I-95) and I-295 run parallel with each other for quite a few miles. That's two interstates side by side!  And, accoring to Wikipedia, most of the New Jersey Turnpike alone consists of 10 to 14 lanes.  We have a long way to go to reach traffic Armageddon!
