(Disclamer: I don't know anything about construction)

I was just downtown and it looks like berkman 2 is back under construction. I snapped this photo of a worker on the side of the building.

I went by the site and saw some activity, along with the tower crane.

I've noticed the crane working this morning as well.

Old GC is removing all their crap to make way for the new one.  BP2 will be going forward, just wait and see as I have been preaching since the accident.

I was at Baptist this morning and noticed the cranes as well.

Good! cant wait for this to be finished up!

Maybe this MIGHT mean that our other projects, especially downtown projects that were approved or proposed and were put on hold may soon be thawing out as well.

Let's all keep our fingers cross.  The economy is beginning to stir once again and the credit lines are loosening up.

Is the big Southbank Tower still on the books? 50+ floors? Where in the blazes does it fit between the Acosta and Atena?

I still think we citizens, MJ or our own CofC should jump on the new Casino wagon and bring the Micosukee Nation up here to look at that old JEA Southbank property. Can you imagine if we had them here? Southern Fried Rock Hall of Fame + Smaller cruise ships tie up dockside, extended river walk, streetcars (you know I had to say that), rope cable cars to Stadium, a 5 star hotel and playground all on that site?

Before someone tells me I'm nuckin futz, think of all the adults pouring into Florida headed for the Casinos, Beaches, Attractions down south and we STILL IN FLORIDA become the very first attraction area. First Coast + First Attractions + First Casino we'd be killing the competition.

Consultin' with the rain.
And my head I'd be scratchin' while
my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.
I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le,
In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts you'll be thinkin'
you could be another Lincoln Jeff Davis
If you only had a brain.
Oh, I could tell you why The ocean's near the shore.
I could think of things I never thunk before.
And then I'd sit, and think some more.
I would not be just a nothin' my head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain.
I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
If I only had a brain.

The St. John was supposed to be built on top of the big surface parking lot between Aetna and the Acosta.  Excluding Berkman II, all of those highrise residential projects are on ice until the market rebounds.

My understanding is the St. John project is on hold until the market improves and even then, I'm not sure it will return, or if so, be the same project.  It was squeezed in between the west side of the FEC tracks coming off the southern end of the bridge and the Aetna building along the riverfront.  I, too, was surprised they would go for that but I guess they thought they had it figured out.  As a high rise, I guess the footprint is relatively small.  I would imagine since that is a point in the river where it turns, the views could be quite spectacular, especially on floors above the height of the Aetna building which I am guessing is about 20 stories.  I wonder what they were offering to protect against the sounds and vibrations of passing trains.
Hey!  Whatever happened to just plain ol' COMMON SENSE!!
