Jacksonville's Central Park?

There are 37 acres of greenspace creating the border between Downtown and the Springfield Historic District. Confederate Park and playground, H.J. Klutho Park, W.W. Schell Park, and McPherson Park all make up the Springfield park system.  Pocket parks work in certain situations, but this area is urban Jacksonville's true  Central Park .

This is one of the reasons I love living in Springfield...

Great tour.  Just imagine what $700k would have done for the Main Street corridor of the park.

I never knew that there was once a minature golf course between Springfield and Downtown.

how cool was that! Would love to see that back again

Lake I have never seen this park. The Klutho Park?! I never been there, Been in Springfield many many times, it looks a lot like Piedmont Park man...just looking at your pics. Looks like another reason to have a Skyway Station in Springfield. Anywho... they should do that Free Movie thing in a park like that. Where they set up a big screen and show a classic movie, I think they do it out at Jax Beach at the Sea Walk Pavilion. Im just trying to figure out why I never seen this Klutho Park location in person.....Maybe they don't do enough events there. I know who the Klutho dude is though, read about him, went to all of his buildings...even his crib on Main Street, but never seen the park.

Lake you know what would be cool man? If MJ.com could reach out to some of those older cats from the Jacksonville Historical Society like Wayne Woods and them...I know Ock is here, but man some of those other old school cats stories would be just as cool man.

Saying that Klutho Park is being slept on is an understatement! Take the Jazz Festival away from Metropolitian Park and move it to Klutho Park or something...I don't know lol. Bout to google this thing.

Klutho park is a nice park, in fact, that's where the Dog Days in the Park event is being held tomorrow

Lake, I think the minature golf course was moved at least once, I remember standing by Hola's and telling you I remember something over on the NW side of the same water works building. There was also a small train in one of the parks too, it was steam powered and had a couple of coaches - as I recall the roof and end details were nearly perfect, doors, vestibules, couplers, windows etc... The sides were open, and they had facing seats. I think it was a bit larger then the Mandarin train. Does anyone else recall this or the giant shoe and mushrooms, storybook stuff? Or am I mixing up my parks?

Due to the ash contamination in Schell Park

Jax definitely needs another skate park.  I currently know of only 2 within the city limits.  Cuba Hunter in the Emerson area and one on beaver street far west of town.

There's one at Ed Austin park, near the intersection of Monument and McCormick Rds.

I meant public skate parks.  Kona can be pretty steep on the weekends.
