Urban Neighborhoods: North Shore

Considered a part of Metro North, North Shore grew as a result of residential expansion north out of downtown and Springfield during the first half of the twentieth century.

There appears to be some well-kept homes in that area. Hopefully one day from downtown to the trout river will look as well maintained.

Here you go.  Northshore is the area highlighted in red.

What neighborhood would be on the east side of Main street opposite North Shore?

I've been living up there for about 5 years now and can tell you that it is a really great area that is priced fairly. Also plans are to take Tallulah to 2 lanes instead of 4 with a turn lane and sidewalks and I think a bike lane (not sure).

A hidden gem I wasn't aware of.  I might have to take a trip down there this week to tour the 'hood myself.

I took these pics 4 years ago in what I believe is North Shore, if not it may have been Panama Park, right along the trout river. but i'm curious as to what this area is. Is it simply a ship graveyard?

Sigma

Yes, that area is Panama Park area.  Some yankee developer had a contract on a lot of that area for a while before the market tanked.  Supposedly, there was plans of luxury condos and marina.

I just drove through there the other weekend and those ships appear to have been cleared and I saw the signs for the Marina dev. If that ever does get built it will be a boon to that area.

in 2007, that old ship was taking on water.

You are absolutely right.  Main St has already been improved.  Some new development will bring in some more business.

Didn't they just find a dead body floating in the water at the park there? ???

I went to the last neighborhood association meeting. What happened was a known drug dealer/burglary suspect was urinating in the bushes beside the water and had a seizure (from all the drug usage?) and fell in the water.

He was discovered a few hours later.

I think that happened south of North Shore area.
