QuoteHe was the only sophomore...Sam Bradford joined him in that this year.

Red shirt sophomores don't count.

Why wouldn't they?

Shwaz

Because he's essentially a junior - he's smarter bigger and also eligible for the NFL draft.

Also, if it wasn't for the Big12 bs voting (not even putting Tebow on the ballot) he wouldn't even have the trophy.
And though I long to embrace, I will not replace my priorities: humour, opinion, a sense of compassion, creativity and a distaste for fashion.

Only the SE USA had Tebow #1, every other part of the country had him as #3 on their votes or even left off (you only vote #1 #2 #3) He finished first in the south only.

Not sure where you got these numbers but... Tebow had more #1 votes overall and only needed another 84 (2nd place ballots) to take the the trophy... he was left off of 154 ballots in the Southwest region.

BS Voting? Bitter much?

Not one bit... I'm not even a gator fan or some tebow fanatic. I rooted for them in the game because they're a FL team and also because my sister is a Junior there. I'm just relating a logical point of view.

Tebow wasn't the only guy left off the ballots, both McCoy and Bradford were left off of ballots as well.

Shwaz

... but neither of them had the most 1st place votes.

Tebow proved on the field that he is the real Heisman Trophy winner.  He was clearly better than Bradford head to head, no matter what disgruntled criminoles have to say about the matter.

No one is disgruntled (at least not me) and not all Seminoles are criminals. Florida has had there fair share of players arrested this year. I dont want to take anything from Tebow. I go to the same church as him and his family. They are great people. I just get tired of the relentless news coverage here locally. Let the Gainesville news media take care of all that. UF campus is not in Jacksonville and we should stop acting as if it is.

GatorShane

It is always so interesting how people who arent Gator fans complain about the coverage that UF gets here in Jax. It is after all the University of Florida. Jacksonville is in Florida isnt it? We are  closer to Gainesviller than any other major Metro area. A major UF medical center is here. There are more UF alumni and fans in the Jax area than all of the other schools combined. The local news media is loaded with UF interns and graduates. It is a simple matter of geography. Oh,and by the way Seminole boy, didnt you recently call me out about my perception on F.S.U. and its attendance problems in regards to how much closer Gainesville is to Floridas major cities than Tallahassee? You cant have it both ways. And to all of the Tebow haters, Senimole or otherwise, this guy shows nothing but class and integrity on and off the field. I guess you cant fault him off the field so you just have to settle for attacking his so-called lack of football ability. Its great to be a Florida Gator!!

fsujax: I hadn't realized you'd attacked Tebow regarding his on- or off-field life.  (shrug)

In the meantime, it's also great to be a Miami Hurricane fan.  I'll say that now, despite being in the midst of their 'poorer' years.  Let's see half the UF fans say that once they start into their lesser seasons.

Every school has had their share of student arrests.  It happens.  Hell, look at UM.  Students are young and dumb and think they're invincible and above the law.  There's no such thing as a completely saintly college sports team.

Even moreso: I pretty much dislike FSU and UF altogether.  But I agree that coverage and fawning of the local media is pretty humorous, if nothing else.  Personally, it reinforces the fact that there's plenty of subprime media in this town, as we've discussed elsewhere.

I've no personal experience living here and seeing the media present the Seminoles' past victories in the same light, so I shan't form a comparison nor bias.  I do, however, wonder if it was as intense and favorable.

Amen to this.  I'm always upset at the number of UF shirts I see on campus at UNF, but Wednesday and Thursday it was just ridiculous.  I personally don't care much about college football teams so it doesn't matter to me who wins/loses/is in the championship.  I understand, given our proximity to Gainesville that there are going to be a lot of Gator fans in town.  But it really bothers me seeing UNF's campus littered with blue and orange.  It's blue and gray you morons!!  Have some pride in THE SCHOOL THAT YOU GO TO!!
