The Florida Gators beat Oklahoma 24-14 to win the 2008 college football National Championship!  It is Florida's third national title and the second for head coach Urban Myer.   ;D

Yes!! I am very surprised by the low score, but not by the outcome.

Yes...it pains me to say...but Congrats!

Just one question though....

How can Tebow be named offensive player of the game?  He had 2 terrible interceptions and didn't even run well in the first half.  The difference maker in the game (and the best player at UF for 3 years) was Percy Harvin!

And, of course, give credit to Charlie Strong....the defense is the real reason the Gators are champs....the score could easily have been 21-7 at half.....maybe now someone will give this guy a head coaching opportunity!

It was nice to see an actual game this time, and not a blow out.

I thought the gators would have to play catch up in this one. I watched it infrequently from a bar in Riverside, everytime I looked up OK was driving in their red zone.

Eiterway, good game!

What a great game!

GO GATORS!

It was a good game for Gator fans, but as an outsider just watching a college game, the first half wasn't very entertaining at all.  At least the game picked up in the second half though.

Congrats to the Gators.

Oklahoma did not deserve to be there in the first place. Texas beat them head to head and only lost the chance to represent the Big12 conference (or at least play in its title game) by voters.

Meanwhile, Utah goes undefeated twice in 5 years, and is snubbed from a chance both times.
They demolished Alabama by a larger margin than Florida did, yet everyone says they play noone.

Congrats to Florida, but the BCS is a joke that needs to be abolished and let a real champion be decided by playing on the field and not by voters.

I thought it was a sloppy game overall. Too many turnovers, penalties and coaching blunders.

Too many reviews by the officials to "reset the game clock!"

From your friendly neighborhood CowPoke from Oklahoma STATE University, my favorite team is whoever is playing OU. Even though we had our best season in memory at our new T. Boone Pickens Stadium - we sort of got our faces smashed by those "Sooners" in this years Bedlam Bowl.

The University of Oklahoma is the only school I know of who's name honors criminals. "Sooners" were claim jumpers that went ahead of the famous land runs and staked out their farms. They were under shoot to kill orders by the US Army and Indian Nations, because they cheated...arriving "Sooner" then the law would permit.

BY JOB I THINK I'M A GATOR FAN !

Oh I don't know.  I'm sure there are plenty of high schools with "Bandits" as their mascot. ;)

OU could've gone the Native American tribe name route instead for their mascot, but in the wake of all this silly Political Correctness of late, they probably would've been pressured to change their mascot anyway (see: several colleges lately including a few 'Warriors', the Cleveland Indians, Atlanta Braves, Washington Redskins, et al)

I thought it was pretty hilarious when a few years ago the University of Hawaii changed from the "Rainbow Warriors" to just the "Warriors".

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

What was the deal with both teams looking at the sidelines for EVERY play. That was getting on my nerves so bad and slowed the game down terribly.

OU runs a "no huddle" offense.  In the pros the QB has a radio reciever from which he gets the next play... College still uses hand signals.  While the game seems slower it actually speeds up play.  The no huddle enables teams more offensive plays per game... :)
