QuoteJACKSONVILLE, FL -- Orange barricades are part of the landscape on a stretch of Main Street, something business owners have been seeing for a year and will for another year.

A 12-block portion of Main Street is being resurfaced along with being torn up for other infrastructure improvements. The work is being done in phases with work starting in 2004.

Tony Mobarak, the owner of A-Z Sandwiches at 4th and Main, says barricades have a way of steering business away.

"I am going to try to hang in there and see what I can do," said Mobarak, who operates a family business that has been in business for fifty years.

Down the road, Ruby Evans has been cutting hair for four decades, ten years in her shop just off Main Street.

"A headache, a hassle and a very decrease in business," said Evans who says her business is being trimmed.

The city says work on the last phase is on schedule with the projected completion set for next fall.
