Volunteeting?

Sorry for the double-post but I wanted this to show up on the home page and for some reason where I posted it before is not doing that...

I am very interesting in volunteering and giving back to our community but I am not sure where to begin.

Ideally any of the following would interest me:

Public Art project/ city mural

City clean-up

promoting pet adoption/ spaying-neutering

somehow giving back to children


I am a graphic designer/creative type and so something that could possible use those skills would be cool...

I am involved with Volunteer Jacksonville (volunteerjacksonville.org) and donate time when I can providing IT services.

Check them out.  A wonderful umbrella organization that will place you where you can best use your talents.  The city can always use new and willing volunteers.

Depending on what you're interested in doing....you can always volunteer at the local school. Perhaps reading to the kids or countless other options....go talk with the principal.

As for pets...you can volunteer at the Humane society or probably animal control...I'm sure either would love to have the help.

You may also want to check into IMPACTJax, which is the young professional arm of the Chamber of Commerce.  I am involved on the service committee which does mopnthly volunteer activities similar to what you are looking for.
