Agreed!

I wanted Ben Johnson, but think Liam Cohen is going to be a fantastic fit for the offense.

I've still got faith in Trevor.

If you look at just how truly terrible the Jags were when he went out for the reason, I think he was probably doing more to keep the team competitive than most give him credit for.

Worst to first in 2025 is my prediction  ;D

And we hired a head coach in the worst possible way.   GO Jags!!

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I am happy with the pick even though I think they gave up too much to make the trade.

They got the best player in the draft and sent a message. This is an entirely new organization that has the balls to take a big risk and get the guy they want. Could it backfire? Yes absolutely. That being said, this is an exciting and interesting time to be a fan. I think a lot of us hoped that Pederson would be the fix that we needed, but when they didn't ditch Baalke, I always felt something was off and that we ended up compromising to protect Baalke. Then Doug Peterson acted like Press Taylor had nudes of him and refused to do literally anything to help the organization when Press was doing some truly atrocious play calling.

I am excited to go to a few games this year and enjoy the last couple years of sunburns and 95 degree weather in our aging stadium. DUUUVAL

Lol... crickets...LMFAO

LOT of hype on the streets, I honestly think it's just a change in the social sphere since the early days of Metro_Jax.

A lot of the Jags talk that used to happen on sites like this have migrated to places like Reddit, Twitter, and Facebook over the years.

It's hard to believe, but when the infamous "LA is coming to steal your team" discussions used to happen here, all of those other platforms were in their absolutely infancy, and social media hadn't really become a mainstream thing yet.

Wouldn't confuse crickets here for apathy in the city! Have heard people debating this trade all morning around town.

Well said, could not agree more.

Love the boldness. It's exactly what we need.

Good to hear. I'm excited to see what this young man can do in the pros... Can Green Bay put on a party or what??

Looks like a blast!

Surely if Green Bay has the infrastructure to host the draft, Jax should too, right?

I still think that - in addition to the new stadium and all of the new riverfront parks coming online - the key piece needed to bring it all together and really jumpstart the whole area is the Sports & Entertainment complex.

While it seemed absolutely necessary to negotiate it separate from the larger stadium deal, I'm a little bummed that it seems to have been kicked down the road and we haven't heard much about for the last year or so.

Not sure where the city finds the $100 to $200 million to make it happen, but in a perfect world, it would come online at the same time as the stadium, the parks, and (hopefully) the MOSH.

Ken_FSU - did the Interwebz eat a sentence or two? Or am I being dense?
I don't know what you mean as "the key piece" that "seemed absolutely necessary to negotiate it separate from the larger stadium deal, I'm a little bummed that it seems to have been kicked down the road and we haven't heard much about for the last year or so" that will cost "$100 to $200 million."

Nope Charles, I'm just a terrible communicator  ;D

What I meant was:

1. The shiny new Jags stadium, upgraded Jumbo Shrimp ballpark, MOSH 2.0, USS Orleck, Daily's Place Flex Field event-venue conversion, Shipyards West Park, rebuilt Met Park, Four Seasons, RISE at Doro, and One Shipyards Office Tower are all fantastic additions to that side of downtown.

2. The one piece that is badly needed to turn this entire area into a cohesive 18-hour destination for game days and non-gamedays alike is a Battery/Ballpark Village/Power & Light District style sports & entertainment complex to bring the whole area to life and make it a place you spend the day at, rather than parking, going to the MOSH or an event, and then leaving to go elsewhere for food & entertainment.

3. In a perfect world, we would have negotiated this alongside the stadium. The proposed split on the venue was very city-friendly relative Lot J ($550 from Khan, ~$100 million from the city, if I recall correctly). But, from all accounts, we'd probably still be negotiating a joint stadium/entertainment complex package today due to the complexities, had we not broken them off into seperate agreements. So, when I say absolutely necessary, I mean in terms of expedience and getting a very fair stadium project with a 30-year lease extension attached approved and put before NFL owners for a vote. I just hope this hasn't slipped too far onto the back burner, as it's such an important aspect of making all of the other surrounding investment pay off. You kind of need it to attract the kinds of events that the need stadium & Met Park promise, and to drive day-to-day vibrancy of the sports district.

CNBC reveals Jags 29th in NFL "Net Receipts" at $84.3 million.  Click on article link for data table for all teams.

QuoteInternal NFL ticket report reveals 49ers at top and Titans at bottom

CNBC obtained a copy of the National Football League's Summary of Attendance Statistics for the 2024 season, an internal document shared within the league, but not available to the public. The 35-page report includes data on tickets sold, net ticket receipts, the visiting team's share of gate receipts and club seat premiums, gross general admission ticket prices, and the premium paid for club seats for the preseason and regular season for all 32 teams. The ticketing data in this CNBC report was sourced from that document.

The NFL requires every team to give 34% of ticket revenue and the licensing amount of a club seat to the league based on an internal formula, according to several NFL executives who asked to remain unnamed so they could speak freely about private conversations. This pool, known as the visiting team's share, or VTS, is mostly redistributed equally among the 32 teams. In 2024, each team received $27 million, up from $25 million the previous year, according to the league executives.

The VTS money not redistributed is used by the NFL to fund league-level lending programs that go toward the private financing of new stadiums and renovations. Some teams are granted waivers by the NFL on a portion of their VTS contribution if they are using stadium revenue to finance construction or renovations. The Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Rams, for example, received waivers of $23.4 million and $12.2 million, respectively, for their new stadiums, according to the NFL executives.

The league's 32 teams collected an average of $433 million in national revenue in 2024 from media, licensing and sponsorship agreements, said the executives. National revenue made up about two-thirds of overall league revenue. Local revenue — including tickets, suites, stadium sponsorships, concessions, parking and non-NFL stadium events — accounted for the remainder.

The San Francisco 49ers led the league in net ticket receipts — the amount the team keeps after taxes, fees and surcharges — with $176.5 million in 2024. That's $40.8 million more than the No. 2 Dallas Cowboys and $67.5 million above the league average. The Tennessee Titans ranked last, at $81.2 million in net receipts. The Indianapolis Colts were next to last, at $83.3 million, and the Arizona Cardinals came in just above the Colts, at $83.4 million.

The 49ers also had the highest general admission ticket price, at $190.78 last season, followed by the Philadelphia Eagles, at $184.27, and the Las Vegas Raiders, at $165.58. The New England Patriots, who have won six Super Bowls but have not made the postseason since 2021, charged the highest club seat premium at $471.92 — more than double the NFL average.

The NFL declined to comment in response to CNBC's questions regarding the Summary of Attendance Statistics report.
