First two pick to shore up the defense........  Good luck Trevor!

Using the 1st pick overall on a project player is.... very Jaguar. Trading back up though to get Lloyd was a huge move. There was a massive hole at LB and now you can make a legitimate case that the defense is set across all levels. We did use a lot of capital during FA on Online and WR. Would be tough to justify a first round WR simply from a financial standpoint. We also drafted Walker Little in the 2nd round last year. Mid-Rounds are great for interior O-line and RB which are still needs. Would expect the jags to go majority offense for the remainder of their picks.

But as I always tell myself, we suck until we don't. I'll believe the moves we've made are the right ones once we actually win more than 5 games.

MusicMan

I'm with you on that regard.

Unless this is wrong however:

We had the worst scoring offense in the league last year... just sayin...

WarDamJagFan

We were the worst at everything last year and have been the worst at basically everything for the entirety of Shad's ownership. This roster has been so God-awful that it will still take another couple offseasons to fully fix. Last year was also a unique disaster because of Urban. I do believe we were an extra special kind of suck last year strictly from Urban's incompetence so I would expect some of these players (like Laviska) to have a much different look this season than last. That's the hope at least.

MusicMan

Certainly hope the offense with Pederson at the helm gets more out of these players.

Lambo sues Jaguars over hostile workplace.  This could be interesting.

Meyer was fired by the Jaguars hours after the Tampa Bay Times' exclusive story detailed the head coach kicking Lambo.

Quietly confident today. Trevor built good chemistry with Kirk and Etienne in pre-season so very interested to see how he does with a year under his belt, not being saddled with a toxic coach and some added help as he had nothing at all last year.

With the first pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select...

I was too busy watching the Dolphins win with Hill running up and down the field. So I only caught the last two possessions.  What's the instant reaction among the Jags fans on the team's overall performance today?

To me, the positives outweighed the negatives today. Would have loved to have gotten the W, but this is a FAR cry from the Urban Meyer-led squad last year. If the O-line can give Trevor a little more time in the pocket, we find a way to run the ball a bit more, and we tighten up the penalties, I like where we're headed. We beat ourselves in a lot of ways today, but overall, we looked like a competitive, competent team out there with plenty of room to improve pretty quickly once these guys get a bit more time on the field together. 6.5 wins was the over/under going into season, and we looked like a 6 or 7 win team today.

Have stopped visiting Jags Reddit and Jags Twitter. Too pessimistic. Prevailing opinion seems to be that Trevor is a bust, which seems an insane label to be throwing around for a 22 year old kid whose only other NFL season was one of the most turbulent shitshows in league history.

I bet they bounce back strong next game.

P.S. One game sample, I know, but Travon Walker is thus far making the Aiden Hutchinson crowd look pretty foolish.

Dude is a BEAST.

Hutch looked like he was moving in slow motion up in Detroit.

Agreed. But the fact that they couldn't put points on the board at the end of the first half made all the difference how they played in the final minute with Trevor Lawrence ultimately forcing that INT to seal the deal for the Commanders.

That drive in the red zone to end the half gave my flashbacks to the constant drops and miscommunication thay plagued the team last year but there is definitely sone marked improvement by this Jaguar team.

jaxlongtimer

I see promise but frustrated by how many points we missed out on.

Gamble in the red zone in the first half resulted in no points.  Settling for a field goal instead of getting a touchdown.  A missed field goal close in.  Failed 2 pt. conversions more than once.  Some dropped or poorly thrown passes at critical points.  An interception downfield at the end.  That's a lot of missed point opportunities that made the difference in the game.  The good thing is we created the opportunities more than in the past season(s), now, just need to increase our conversion percentage.  Coming back from being down and being in the game to near the end also was a big plus in terms of building team confidence (hopefully :) ).
