What I don't understand is if this is a British game with a British inventor on a British site why are they using American English words?
Been waiting for...colour...lol

That would be six letters.  :D

Well that explains a lot... dammit
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I should have done it in 5, didn't pay attention to a yellow box in line 4.

Got it in 5 today, but my first guess yielded zero yellows or greens.  Should have gotten it in four but I switched the word to see if a letter would show up as green or yellow.  Got 4 other letters green on that one.  Happy to save it after a bust on line 1, but always bummed about a close miss.

4. And I haven't had a 6 yet in a week of playing this game.

Now all we need is a Spelling Bee forum  ;D

Maybe because it wasn't invented by a Brit but by an American in NYC?  Maybe he is a Brit living in NYC but it doesn't say that here:

QuoteThe free game was created by software engineer Josh Wardle of New York City, who made Wordle — a riff on his name — originally for his partner, Palak Shah, who is a fan of word games. Shah also helped with some of the development.

I do note that it appears to be hosted by a UK website so not sure how that plays in.

That explains a lot.

today, 3/6!  After 2 tries, I had two gold letters and 1 green.  Spent a few minutes pondering the possibilities :)

Yesterday was tricky with a double letter - i.e. some words might only use 3 or 4 different letters, not 5!  Sneaky.

A silly mistake cost me...

Yeah, I made a dumb mistake, but then was his with a flash of inspiration after much pondering.
