QuoteOn Thursday, ESPN's Dianna Russini said on Get Up! that some within the NFL believe that new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer brought in Tebow to play quarterback in a versatile role similar to how the New Orleans Saints use Taysom Hill. Tebow won the Heisman Trophy playing quarterback for Meyer at Florida in 2007.

Meyer said Thursday that the Jaguars are still figuring out a plan for Tebow.

"I think it's one step at a time and see what happens," said Meyer, whose team held organized team activities this week. "Before you start having those conversations, you've got to feel where he's at on the depth chart. So obviously, it's only been a couple days, so we have not had that conversation as an offensive staff yet."

Esposito said his oddsmaking team at Station Casinos considered the possibility of a more versatile role for Tebow when they set his over/under.

:o

This is no different than CNN claiming through "anonymous sources" that somebody said something about something else and now we're going to make it into a news story. It's been clear from the get-go that Tebow is trying out as a TE. If there are a couple other wrinkles eventually thrown into the equation, then who cares? This is a nothing-burger of a story from ESPN.

Speculation?  Yes.  Rumor?  Yes.  But not a total nothing burger.

Tebow's quarterbacking is well documented.  No need to try out Tebow at that position.

Urban Meyers says starting QB not yet decided...

Been kinda quiet here... is that silent optimism, quiet resignation or you don't know what to think...
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

If there is truly an open competition between TL and GM then we are probably in trouble.  Since that is a ridiculous statement for UM to make, its just a load of Bullshit.  Or Trevor is struggling.... you figure it out.

Jaguar preseason games may be more fun to watch than many other teams as many of their probable starters will get a lot of playing time... I will be watching tonight...

Kind of shocking how quiet it is here... anyway...

No cash accepted at The Bank...
Digital tickets only...
Traffic patterns different this year...
New championship coach...
New first round draft pick QB...
New first round draft pick RB...

Go Jags....

Well... Urban and staff have a lot to do...

I watched the first half on tv. It was about what I expected for a preseason game. I was expecting another losing season anyway, so no surprises. What did you think about the rookie performances?

Probably just preseason + Delta variant + a long stretch of futility leading up to this season.

On this forum in particular, you can't discount the fact that the Jags probably did burn some bridges with how they've handled some of these proposed redevelopment projects.

Jags subreddit feels more active than it's been in a few years, and I'm definitely sensing the hype with the younger crowd as well.

Shame the pandemic is still (preventably) crushing the city and putting a hamper on in-person fun.

Personally, I'm stoked for the season.

5-6 wins this year, 11-12 next year  8)

Let's go!

I like your enthusiasm. I'm not expecting a Hall of Fame type Jimmy Johnson Cownboys turnaround. If they go 8-8 two years from now, that will be a big success.

This team a has a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, Passing game coordinator and Quarterbacks coach, correct?

WTF......

Twas ugly. But, that's to be expected in general for the first preseason game for a team with a literally-new-everything. Teams are so severely limited by the NFL regarding the amount of contact allowed in practice that simply swatting a fly off another team members' back could warrant a fine and suspension. That doesn't help one's cause when you're implementing new systems and half the roster not being here more than 5 months ago.

There's definitely talent on the team but as a few others have already mentioned, between 6-8 wins this season would absolutely be considered an achievement. This team was 1-15 last year for a reason.
