In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Probably the best deal the Jags could have received at this point. More draft ammo to trade up for Lawrence.

Leonard Fournette CUT.

What in the actual fuck is going on with this franchise.

Unless there's a major off field incident that has yet to come out, this makes absolutely zero sense.

They want to suck for the top pick.

It's been alluded to many times... Locker room cancer...

Are there any current contractual obligations between the city and the Jaguars that would prevent Shad from selling the team or moving them outright?

The lease of the stadium.  Through 2030.

I posted this in the Lot J conversation a while back, but it's relevance towards our Snake Oil Salesman owner is still the same today

Obviously Lot J isn't happening under Lenny, so that part is just left in for context.

When the Jags announced they were playing two games in London in 2020, I wanted to hear a statement from the city saying there would be no Lot J funding if they followed thru...Of course crickets from the St James.

That's when I knew Lenny was a pathetic coward, who will always acquiesce to our loser NFL owner.

When people ask about the whether Khan will move the team, I always counter with whether or not he will still own the team in 5-6 years.  I have heard Tony Khan on a podcast be very cavalier that his father bought a distressed asset from a cash strapped owner.

Much like the former Sea Turtle Inn, the group that acquired the hotel had no intention in investing in better service to make the stay better.  They instead spent all of their capital on improvements to the site in order to increase the value of the asset in then flip it.

The Jags spent their first four years of ownership under Shad Khan's extremely under the salary cap, like the $45M under the cap, which is about what he spent on video boards and pools.  That's money he didn't spend making the team better, just like those sand paper towels at the Sea Turtle this shit will leave you chaffed.

You seem to have issues with the Sea Turtle...  :o

The real problem here is that Fournette wasn't that good in the first place and wasn't anywhere near worth that high of a draft pick.

He was big and strong, but other than his rookie year, he didn't create yardage on his own.  He often didn't seem to see holes, and there are plenty of whispers about his not paying attention during team meetings and being unreliable.  He didn't seem to have a great initial burst either.  Evidently, no one wanted to trade for him, and I wonder how quickly he'll sign since I doubt he'd take well to being anything but the primary back for another team.

Since I was a Broncos fan before the Jaguars existed, I'll say he reminds me of Leonard Russell, a first round pick of the Patriots from 1991, a big back who the Patriots unexpectedly cut right before the 1994 season started.  The Broncos signed him, and I couldn't believe that he was available because I'd seen the highlight film plays where he had some open space and looked like an unstoppable monster going 240 pounds at full speed.  Then I watched him dance around at the line indecisively and get stuffed all through the season if he didn't have immediate running room.  SMM, tell me if I'm off target on my memories here.

That said - he was a good receiver and pass protector, and it's hard to imagine that Armstead and Ozigbo give the team a better chance of winning.  I don't see why they couldn't just let him play out his contract.
The tourist would realize at once that he had struck the Land of Flowers - the City Beautiful!

It's now 'One Ocean' and somewhere I would at least offer as a suggestion to someone from out of town wanting an Ocean-Front Hotel.  The Sea Turtle Inn is long gone and just made for an easy analogy of flipping a business, but I also don't remember those investors asking for $250m+.

I've heard of the locker room issues.  Mark Long has been banging that drum from day 1 as well as a few others hinting towards it.

I don't think Armstead and Ozigbo are that much of a drop-off from strictly a RB perspective, not sure about pass-blocking.  And we added Thompson as a 3rd down pass-catcher and we added Gruden as the OC.  Kind of leaves Fournette as the odd man out in this case.

So couple all of that, with the fact that Fournette knows it's his last year here, so a BIG contract year AND he's going to lose a bunch of touches....   I don't see how that could have ended well through the course of the season.

Might as well cut-bait now rather than wait for it to really blow up in their face.
