Uh oh. Only 60,157 tickets sold. I understand the limited walk up sales due to the heat but for that poor amount of pre- sales for home opener and KC spells big trouble for the rest of the season unless there is a Minshew miracle on the horizon.

The preseason games were in the 56,000 range, so that suggests a baseline level of ticket sales slightly above where the Jags were in the first half of 2017, but obviously well below 2018.

That valuation is coming from Zillow, right?

Tampa was 55,900, with a free Tim McGraw concert at the stadium before the game.

This was Miami:

In that context, our number isn't particularly bad or good.

Panthers and Browns also had an astonishing number of empty seats.

Problem is larger than the Jags, and the scorching 1 pm games don't help.

Any team playing in a public facility should have to release turnstile attendance.  The public should have a right to know how many people enter our buildings if the counting can be easily obtained.

I think the attendance issues because of heat are largely over for 2019. The Jags are back at home in 2 weeks, but it's a night game. Their next 1PM game is October 13th. It will be warm, but not like it was Sunday.

Now, by October 13th we should have a better idea of how their season will go too.

Attendance was bad yesterday, there's no doubt about it, but it seemed worse seeing the broadcast this morning.  I know a lot of the people around us didn't stay in their seats long and a lot left in the 3rd Q.

Luckily with so few fans in the stadium my I was able to keep a data signal throughout the game which let me pick my poison all day.

Watch SMM beat my ass or watch the Jags defense shit the bed all over themselves.

It was such a pretty throw for him to go out on though....

I'm not going to write off the season yet, Minshew played out of his mind and set a couple rookie QB records.  I'll see what happens in the next 2 weeks before I start making other Sunday plans.

^ A tip of the hat for the Minshewian candidate.

The best I had come up with was the tribute to Arrested Development with "I challenge you to A GAME OF MINSHEWS" but that only really works against Tennessee

Uberminsh. The Minsh that roared. Gardner of the Galaxy.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

.... but Miami sold out. Based upon the amount of whining that is done at every state of the Jags bs fest, I think ticket sales might be a little more important here. I think they may approach 2013 level this year.
I'm surprised Miami sold out. That's a historically bad team to watch tank in the heat for Tua.

I have been going to games since the beginning and the number of empty seats was surprising.

The 100 degree heat played a part for sure. But it would not shock me if this is a season-long trend.

It was the first time I had been in the upper deck area in a few years. And I have to say it was the first time that the stadium felt old. The teal seats are scorched and being empty made it more obvious. There are faded and peeling signs.

^Worst pre-season in franchise history and an exhausting 10-day hurricane watch that ate up the normal media hype cycle certainly didn't help either.

Don't blame the hurricane.  Everyone knew the NFL season was starting 6 months before the hurricane and Miami sold out and they were supposed to be ground zero for landfall 2 days before it turned.

No discussion of either Eli Manning or Colin Kaepernick as possible Jags QB?
