QuoteStrolling along the sidewalks on the Northbank of Downtown, there is an energy not experienced for quite some time. But, has demolition or preservation been the driving force behind that new energy?

Wow, nailed it.

Literally should be required reading for every elected official.

Excellent piece as always, Mike. It should be shared far and wide.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I believe the expression goes, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the tree." Great article.

Very well done Mike. Would be great if someone read the key talking points during public comment at City Council and DIA meetings. The only way to ensure the point gets across to elected officials is to beat them over the head with it.

Our City Council, along with the Mayor and some of his staff, need to take a trip and/or tour, with some of that money that they waste, to south Florida and look at the cities of Miami, Miami Beach, Hollywood, Hallandale, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Jacksonville is supposedly (with the consolidation population) the largest city in North Florida; we sure don't look like it or act like it; let alone the 12th most populous city in the U.S.A. (again, we don't look it or act it). Gainesville and Tallahassee seem to have more of a major city attitude than Jax. I think such a trip might wake some of them up (maybe). It is so disappointing to see our city falling into such a quandary. I'll be dead when and if things do take off, and those of you who are 40 or so now, will be rolling around in wheelchairs and walking with canes when and if it happens. So sad.

Lol, the empty parts are the parts that have been blown up.
