6 and 3. Wow. Bortles is doing an expert job of convincing people he's not franchise qb material.

The Chargers had a good game plan...stuff the Jags run game and make Bortles throw.  Luckily, a sure interception was dropped by a Charger's defender.  I love that the Jags pulled the win out of sure defeat, but Bortles is plain old scary.  Everybody was yelling, "Bortles, don't blow it!", and it seems he tried his best to do just that in the 4th quarter.  Our defense swapped skills today.  The pass defense was tried by Rivers, but the run defense did well.  Poz is terrible against the pass.

"So much for the fake punt not working again."

YES.  Great observation.  We practiced it when we did not need it (live game situ) and today the Chargers had completely forgotten about it.

BB is not the future. Can you imagine if we had a better than average QB?

You didn't watch the game did you?

Glad the Jags won. It would have been a real shame if that game had been lost because of a very questionable overturn on the Gipson TD.

The taunting BS has to stop... play like ya been there.  Either of those calls could have cost them the game.
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Not every play.  I had a concert at 3 pm. I watched the first half when our only score came from the fake punt.

Watched the highlights and listened to post game on 1010XL.

Not sure what point your making.  BB threw 2 picks in the late 4th quarter.

When we get to the playoffs and face a team with a good QB we'll see how that goes.

I remain hopeful, and have 10 tickets to the Seahawks game!

BB line : 28 of 51 for 273 yds  1 TD 2 INT   That's 5 yards per attempt.

I'd say this: The 4th quarter picks were horrible, can't have them. With that said, a few things:

- How many plays are in the playbook for 3rd and 25 (thanks Lee for the penalty)?
- Bortles did escape pressure a LOT. If Henne was in there, it's a 10 sack day. the Chargers D-Line is legit
- Cam Robinson had his worst game as a pro. He's a rookie, it happens.
- The Chargers defense was coached extremely well to play Bortles. It was similar to how the Rams defense lined up, but I actually thought the Chargers executed it better.

Overall, there were three games I was concerned about going into Sunday - the Chargers, the Seahawks (thankfully here), and the Titans. The Browns are horrible, the only thing that makes the 49ers at all hard is the travel, the Cardinals are starting lord knows who at QB, and the Colts and Texans are the Colts and Texans.

It was good to see the Jags win a close game, against a good team, with some bad breaks and bad mistakes. Finding a way to win that game bodes well.

Blake was 21-29 going into the 4th qtr. He was bad in the 4th but the play calling or the line didn't give him much help. Boss and Ingram was teeing off at that point.

To add a little more context to JaxAvondale's post:

Through 3 quarters:
Blake Bortles 20/27 (74.1%), 195yds, 1TD, 0 INT, 106.3 QBR (29 passing plays, 17 rushes)

In the 4th though, something changed (edit:  actually end of the 3rd - our last possession of that quarter was an 11 play, 11 pass TD drive):

Blake Bortles 7/20 (35%), 61yds, 0TD, 2 INT, 4.4 QBR
(20 passing plays, 4 rushes)

I know it felt like we could never get the running game going, but you can't just abandon it and leave your QB hanging out to dry. I don't care who it is. At least if you keep pounding the ball, you can run effective PA, but when they know you're not handing it off, they're not going to bite and that safety that would normally crash down is now out in coverage.

We won this one in spite of shooting ourselves in the foot from a coaching / playcalling / scheme standpoint.

How was Rivers not flagged for taunting on that Bouye pick? He knocked Bouye out at the two with a hard hit, which was fine. But then stood over him, which is textbook taunting. And he did it right in front of an official.

The officiating in that game was among the worst I have seen in my 30 years of watching NFL football.

You don't need one. The goal there (assuming brain is functioning) is to try improve your field goal position.

No dispute - this is where Bortles needs to be disciplined. You ran that 3rd and 25 from the Chargers 37. a 10 yard gain makes it 4th down but a very reasonable kick (Long Snapper concern aside). Also, I noticed this from the play by play:

3rd and 25 at LAC 37
(1:33 - 4th) (Shotgun) B.Bortles pass deep middle intended for M.Lee INTERCEPTED by T.Boston [J.Bosa] at LAC 10. T.Boston ran ob at LAC 10 for no gain.

Are they saying it was tipped at the line by Bosa? I didn't see it on TV, but while I'm not bailing Blake out (too many tips), it takes it from a Horrible play in my book to just sub-par.

There's a conspiracy theory floating out there about the NFL doing everything it can to make sure the LA teams stay relevant.  I haven't bought into yet, but the 2 games we had against the LA teams have me teetering on the edge.

The Rams game had a few iffy calls, too, but for the most part, they're playing great football and don't need the refs.

But I'll agree with you 100% that this game was horribly called.  Unfortunately, we can all go back and see stats on the game, but there's no where to see what calls were correct, incorrect or missed.
