I had some family go there recently and they complained that it was really hot / there was little to no circulation. Can anyone speak to this? I'd imagine if the next phase includes the covered pedestrian section on the downtown side of the venue like the renderings it would block more sunlight / cool down those seats during the evening in the summer.

It wasnt the sun so much as the lack of air movement after 7pm. The bathrooms have no air at all and going in during an intermission, you come out looking like you dribbled on yourself when its actually the sweat.

Its really simple, put in slient blowers under the first deck that creates air movement over the main floor. Thats it.

As far as the bathrooms go, I was told that was being addressed.

As for the sound, it all looks very temporary at the moment. I wouldnt be surprised if the current arrangement get revised when the concerts stop in November.

On the sound, there are many variables that can impact sound quality at an outdoor venue. Humidity, number of people present, type of music involved, even the wind blowing can change outdoor acoustics.
AC in the bathrooms or fans at the very least sounds pretty obvious. Glad to hear that being addressed.

As for circulation in the venue do you think those massive warehouse ceiling fans would work? Seems like this is something that can be overlooked in the first year, but needs to be addressed quickly. A lot of these acts draw older audiences and they don't put up with the heat as much as the Rockville crowd

I saw a photo on Daily's Place twitter (see June 27th entry) of the flex field and they have the large fans hanging from the ceiling.  I would guess only a matter of time before they do the same in the amphitheater.

I'm still waiting for them to book an act I'd pay to see.

I think Neil Diamond is too popular for a venue of this size.

PRI (contract house production in charge of PA systems) currently offers different sound packages. So I'm pretty sure it'll differ from band to band and how many people they are expecting to be in attendance. It most definitely involves whoever happens to be behind the board for a given band as well.

Haha!
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

Saw Post Modern Jukebox and Straight No Chaser last night. It was a fantastic concert and the sound where I was (section 205) was great. The new area where you can walk out to the field in the stadium is really cool too. Only complaint is the price of concessions. It appears that they are locked into the NFL game prices for some reason. I can't imagine that they actually think that $9 for a miller light and $13 for a J'ville Lager are the profit maximizing prices. I saw very few people with drinks out of the several thousand people there. Outside of a Symphony performance, I've never been to an event where alcohol was served and so few people are drinking. I guess they just expect everyone to pregame at Intuition?

^The last time I was at Daily's Place, I went into the Daily's convenience store they built downstairs and ordered two Blue Moon drafts.

$26.

I laughed out loud when she told me the price before shamefully handing over my card when I realized it wasn't a joke.

Good observation too, by the way. I didn't see many people drinking either. Hopefully they have an economist on staff, as pricing that high above equilibrium is likely resulting in a significant deadweight loss for the venue. Drop the price a few dollars and see what happens to drink sales.

I am not sure the exact prices, but that doesn't seem like much more than what they charge at the Arena next door.

Coming from someone that was routinely paying $9 for Yuengling tall boys at JU basketball games for many years, I can confirm that the alcohol pricing between Dailys Place and Veterans Memorial Arena is in line (they are also both run by SMG/Savor). Also paid close to $70 for four doubles of Jack Daniels at Pearl Jam and Red Hot Chili Peppers inside the Arena, and paid about the same at Derek Trucks inside Dailys Place.

As far as sound quality, after having been to four concerts at Dailys Place so far, the only place I would not recommend is right up against the wall where the 'Dailys Place' sign is. The bass just bounces off that wall. Lower middle, 200 level on the right side and the Terrace Suite area in the center of the 300 level all had great sound.  Frankly, I think the sound quality at Dailys Place is better than the Arena. Been to quite a few concerts at the Arena where the sound seemed to be bouncing off the ceiling or concrete risers and could become quite 'tingy'.

As NRW pointed out, the sound is also pretty good in the Dailys Place parking lot... and I can anticipate attending a tailgate concert at some point this year with my 8.99 six pack of I-10 :)

The West Palm and Tampa Amphitheaters are no better for booze costs.

The flex field is really nice.

And it's going to look REALLY nice on gamedays with the hangar doors wide open.

Per Lamping, the reason that Daily's Place opens in the rear to the flex field is so that occasional general admission concerts can be held in the flex field area using the stage from Daily's Place.

My understanding is that the alcohol vendors only get half of what the customer pays.  COJ and/or Jags get the other half.  Drinkers are paying an extra share of the concessions revenue.
I haven't been to a show at Daily's yet but I'm excited to see Ian Anderson and his latest iteration of Jethro Tull in November.

Of course. And it's a captive market - so people will pay it.

The Jags have stated repeatedly that they plan to hold major concerts at Daily's Place on the Saturday before every Jags home game. Interesting that we're just a little over two weeks out from the first home game, and nothing has been announced. All of the dates are wide open.

How could you NOT see these claims for these pre-game concerts were mostly horseshit? The odds of a venue attracting 7 acts just as the height of the summer outdoor venue touring season is winding down to fill a multi-thousand seated high-priced venue and asked to adjust their already packed schedules to play on one of 7 specific Saturdays are akin to a single ticket winning a Mega Millions or Powerball jackpot.

Or be prepared for bands like Grandpa's Cough Medicine and The Band Be Easy amping up your Saturday night Jags pep rallies, fine bands to be sure,  but there will certainly be whiners out there complaining that Mark Lamping sold Jaguar fans false Trumpian-like promises.

I look forward to Big Al & The Kaholics rocking Daily's Place this fall.
