Just checking out his Wikipedia professional football summary and he was good when the 49ers had Harbaugh and a commitment to winning.

And his career stats are WAY better than BB or any of the other dudes on your list.  Someone will pick him up. I am assuming he is 100% healthy.

Looks like Henne is gonna make $3,250,000 minimum this year.

Does this matter? Honestly, being a back up is more about helping in the film room and prepping the starter in the NFL. Clearly, every single NFL team does not see Kaep in that role and he is too much drama to bring in as a third string.

MusicMan

Drama?  Maybe he's just misunderstood.

From Wiki.....

"Kaepernick was baptized Methodist, confirmed Lutheran, and attended a Baptist church during his college years.[62] Kaepernick spoke about his faith saying, "My faith is the basis from where my game comes from. I've been very blessed to have the talent to play the game that I do and be successful at it. I think God guides me through every day and helps me take the right steps and has helped me to get to where I'm at. When I step on the field, I always say a prayer, say I am thankful to be able to wake up that morning and go out there and try to glorify the Lord with what I do on the field. I think if you go out and try to do that, no matter what you do on the field, you can be happy about what you did."[63]

Kaepernick has multiple tattoos. His right arm features a scroll with the Bible verse Psalm 18:39 written on it. Tattooed under the scroll are praying hands with the phrase "To God The Glory" written on them. To the left of both the scroll and praying hands is the word "Faith" written vertically. His left arm features a Christian cross with the words "Heaven Sent" on it referring to Jesus. Written above and below the cross is the phrase "God Will Guide Me". Written to the left and right of the cross is the Bible verse Psalm 27:3. His chest features the phrase "Against All Odds" and artwork around it that represents "inner strength, spiritual growth, and humility". His back features a mural of angels against demons.[64][65][66]

When he was 10 years old, Kaepernick acquired a pet tortoise named Sammy. The tortoise since has grown to weigh 115 pounds.[67] When he was in fourth grade, Kaepernick wrote himself a letter, predicting that he would be 6 feet 4 inches, 190 pounds, and would "then go to the pros and play on the Niners or Packers even if they aren't good in seven years",[68] predictions which became accurate except for his weight.

Near the end of the 2012 NFL season, Kaepernick's signature touchdown celebration earned him a photo fad by his namesake, called "Kaepernicking". The signature touchdown pose involves flexing and kissing the bicep of his right arm. Kaepernick says he kisses his "Faith", "To God The Glory", and Psalm 18:39 tattoos and the reason he does the celebration is because "...it's my way of saying I don't really care what people think about my tattoos" and "God has brought me this far. He has laid out a phenomenal path for me. And I can't do anything but thank Him."[64]

Reminds me of a former UF qb.

Maybe he should have stepped out of the back of the endzone a few times...  ;D  ;D

While I agree with the article in general, abusing women did cost Ray Rice and Greg Hardy their NFL careers.

MM, you seem to be rather oddly invested in Kaepernick.

* * *

As for the lazy slaves to conventional wisdom, desperate to label someone a bust, this is why people bump their gums so much talking yang, yang, yang. I have no love for Joeckel. Not invested in him in the slightest. I watched with my own eyes his poor play. None of that makes him a bust, particularly on an underperforming team with bad or inexperienced quarterback play. All draft picks in the NFL eventually amount to crap shoots. That's why there are so many 3rd, 4th, 5th and even 6th round players making serious money in the League.

This is especially true, IMHO, with offensive linemen. He was a gamble; we lost the gamble.

But busts are out of the League by their third year. Y'all do realize, right, that according to the NFL Players Association the average career length is about 3.3 years. The NFL claims that the average career is about 6 years (for players who make a club's opening day roster in their rookie season). Joeckel, right now, is projected as a starter for the Seattle Seahawks in this, his fifth year.

That said, a further problem for Joeckel in the imagination of our fanbase is his membership on a disastrous draft roster for us:

Johnathan Cyprien, starter for the Titans
Dwayne Gratz - out of the League, still hunting for work
Ace Sanders - out of the League
Denard Robinson - out of the League, still hunting for work
Josh Evans - hanging on with Redskins
Jeremy Harris - out of the League
Demetrius McCray - out of the League

Only Cyprien is the other starter-caliber player from that draft. But back to Joeckel; he's a bust? Idiotic. He's a disappointment but definitely not a bust. This is the kind of maddening stupidity offered by people who don't quite seem capable of understanding how hard it is to be a superior player in the NFL *and* how often high draft picks fail to meet that standard.

Tacachale

Labels aside, Joeckel turned out to be a mediocre player that we blew the #2 pick on (of course, everyone pegged him as a top-of-the-first round player, and most of that class was crap, but that doesn't help us in the slightest). Bortles has one more season to prove himself. It's far too early to call Dante Fowler. I'm an optimist, I hope he'll be fine.

I was all for giving Kaep (and others) a look, but let's face it, he's a declining QB with an unfavorable drama-to-ability ratio. Clearly, all the other teams feel the same way about him. Better players out there.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I love it!  Drama to ability ratio... perfect description...  8)
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

I assume most of us are Jaguar fans and we have a great understanding of how often high draft picks fail to meet that standard.

Ha. Well stated.  RG will stick by Blake even when he's no longer on any NFL roster, same with Dante 'Personal' Fowler.

It's not just the first rounders who have failed, don't forget we choose a punter in the third round a few years back while Russel Wilson was sitting on the board.

Ouch.

But my experience is that it's the opposite, actually, and people wind up spouting this stuff about what a 2nd pick in the draft is supposed to be -- blah, blah, blah. Bitch and moan. Then blah, blah, blah. Rinse and repeat.

That said, we have had an incredible run of draft picks that didn't work out or players that were good but the scheme just wasn't quite right to maximize their potential. Hopefully that is all changing right now. This last draft looked mighty damn good to me.

My philosophy is that life is short. Might as well hope for the best while trying to objective analyze what is going on.

The crew they have now making these coaching and draft selections? Looks like a competent crew to me. The injury to Dante hurt us bigtime, hopefully his incredible immaturity won't do likewise.

I *do* believe in Blake and I'm going to stand by him until it very clearly is not going to work out. Those last two games last year give me GREAT HOPE. T-Wigg on 1010XL gave up on Gus Bryant long before I did but, damn, if only Marrone could have had most of last season we'd have a much better handle on Blake coming into this season.

But what's the harm in hoping for the best?

Again, life is short my man.

MusicMan

I thought it was a typo but no, BB throws 5 interceptions in first scrimmage.

There is no competition in camp and that is a serious problem.  You think TC has Kaepernick's number now?
