Went and tried the new café in Miramar today called The Local and it was awesome.  Its the same guys that own The Roost...  They say on their FB page that they are a "High quality café focusing on delicious food, a variety of craft booze, and the best caffeine in town".  I would definitely give this place a try.  The food and coffee was phenomenal.  The manager told me they partnered with Bold Bean to create their own brew blends.  They just opened last week and don't have their beer license yet, but they said they should be good to go in the next week or two and will be serving all the local brewski's on tap and bottled... I have been waiting for something like this in our neighborhood for years and it's exciting to see it done right and supporting local business through their own.  Open 7 days a week from 7am - 10pm... They renovated the old dilapidated building behind the Miramar Center where Players Grille is located.  Anyway, just giving a shout out to a great new spot helping our city come alive.  Check em' out.

I've been wanting to go, but every time I drive by it looks like the place is SLAMMED.  Going to try and get up there next week.

went for the soft opening and enjoyed what we had very much- cant wait for the roost to ruin riverside as we know it! lol

hopefully they run their marketing by mmr, keeper and steward of neighborhood boundaries

I'm in that area a lot and have been curious about it.  Glad to hear your experience was good.  God, i just hope they don't market themselves as being in San Marco.  I am so sick of these carpetbaggers claiming they live in San Marco, when they are in Miramar, or sometimes even pushing Lakewood.

I hate that crap!  I met a couple of "older" guys in their late 50's or so at the Granada Park in Miramar last week, and they were talking about selling their house and listing it as being in San Marco.  I laughed and said, "Yea that sounds great on the listing - Beautiful home for sale in San Marco, located just minutes from San Marco."

On one hand, this is the part of Miramar that's definitely not in the SMPS borders. On the other, I know people who grew up there that claimed San Marco. So it's not like there hasn't been precedent for a long time; the "San Marco" name has grown well beyond the borders of the original development over the last 90 years.

It's also amusing to hear a well-heeled individual from San Marco complaining about "yuppies".

Polite correction:
All of Lake Shore, from Normandy at Lenox in what is technically originally Murray Hill, to Jacksonville's Marina Mile below Roosevelt on the Ortega River, is in its entirety miles closer to everything in Downtown Jacksonville than anything in Orange Park...
