Does anyone know what is being built at the NE corner of Beach and San Pablo?

This is behind the Compass Bank branch.

No permit boards (yet) or signs but they are clearing the lots out of trees.

If I may piggyback off your question, I'm also curious about what's going into the new strip plaza in front of Regal Beach Boulevard theater, and what's up with the new build-out going on at Beach and Hodges, on the north side, left of Bojangles.

I couldn't find anything on the San Pablo property, but the lot in front of the Regal theater will be a Taziki's Cafe, and the Beach & Hodges site next to Bojangles will be a GFS Marketplace grocery store.

QuoteTaziki's Mediterranean Café will join Jacksonville's food scene when it opens at the Palmetto Point shopping center on Beach Boulevard.
The Birmingham, Ala.-based chain that serves Mediterranean cuisine intends to open at 14035 Beach Blvd., No. 108. The company's website says the location is coming soon.

Palmetto Point is the new center built on the site of a former Golden Corral in front of the Regal Cinemas Beach Boulevard.

Contractor C.N. Bailey & Co. Inc. of Birmingham is the contractor for the $365,000 build-out of 2,844 square feet of interior space and a 353-square-foot patio. Plans show 98 seats inside and 32 outside.

Seating includes raised booths, high-tops, tables and banquettes inside and patio dining outside.

QuoteGFS Marketplace construction plans filed

Construction plans are in review for the area's first GFS Marketplace by Gordon Food Service.

The city is reviewing plans for the 16,846-square-foot project at 13423 Beach Blvd. Documents show a grocery store including aisles of shelves, a freezer and cooler, prep room and stock room, checkouts, a customer-service center and offices.

Cuhaci & Peterson Architects of Orlando is the architect. No full construction cost was listed.

The city previously OK'd a permit for Arwood Waste Inc. to remove a building at 13427 Beach Blvd. to make way for construction of the area's first GFS Marketplace at Beach and Hodges boulevards.

Gordon Food Service is a Grand Rapids, Mich.-based restaurant supplier that operates more than 165 marketplace stores in 10 states, including at least 14 in Florida.

The stores sell food and products in large quantities but do not charge a membership fee like warehouse clubs.

The retail buildout on Beach Boulevard by Killashee next to Regal Cinema (across from Freddy's) will host a Cold Stone ice cream shop and a new Loop.

The new Loop will be welcome since they closed the one at San Pablo and Beach a few years ago.

Cold Stone is finishing their buildout.  Looks like the Loop is just getting started.

What's going on at Beach and A1A at the Beach? Is it a staging area for something else because they have some heavy equipment and fencing around the property.

^ I've actually been wondering the same.

They are doing drainage repairs on 1st and 2nd Streets in that area.
