While I gladly await Ken's attack on your person, I think your strawman is already set.  Thomas' own numbers do a wonderful job of that all by themselves.

I'll go and ad hominem myself: I'm too thick to actually understand what you mean.

^What's funny is that, self-admitted devil's advocate schtict aside, I don't think we're too far off on our opinions, Matt. Taking the phrase "world class"  off the table, did Julius Thomas have outstanding numbers in 2013 and 2014? Absolutely. Hence, my assertion in the original post that, on paper, he was a good signing that Caldwell shouldn't necessarily be blamed for whiffing on. That said, you're totally right that it's Caldwell's job to make personnel decisions based on full context, not just a stat sheet. The injury issues weren't a surprise, and as GM, it was on Caldwell to determine whether Thomas' production was the product of sheer natural talent or the byproduct of a historically great Peyton Manning offense. At this point in time, it looks like Caldwell's analysis was wrong. It was a chance worth taking at the time - the Jags had the cap space and free agents willing to play here where hard to come by - but at the end of the day, it's on Caldwell if he fails to produce at a level in line with his salary.

Get Julius Thomas on an offense that isn't run by a 50 year old bald man masquerading as a twentysomething and who understands his job is to throw it to his teammates and not the guy in the different colored uniform and Julius Thomas absolutely would be fucking awesome.  It isnt his fault Bortles tricked people into thinking he was above-mediocre.  Also, Greg Olson did him no favors with the play calling.

Hmmmm. Pretty passionate for someone who allegedly isn't much of Jag fan.The evidence is starting to mount. Come clean...you love Khan and everything he has done for the City. When it comes to the Jags....you want more! I bet you even follow Tony Khan on twitter.
Ha.  Not so much. I do keep up with the team, purely for social reasons.  As a whole, I abhor the NFL. It's a disgusting, greed-drive industry.

Unlike your beloved College Footbaw, of course.
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

And college football isn't!? The only difference is that outside of an education they don't pay the players. Texas A&M, Missouri, and Nebraska didn't switch conferences and end annual historic rivalries because of the social good.

Wasn't trying to make you out to be a hypocrite. Just having a conversation-if you felt I was, that wasn't my intent.

Murder Me Rachel is actually a fucking awesome song by the National, which I was listening to when I registered my account.

not to go off the rails, but the only Rachel I dug was the all girl band Rachel Rachel.

I had to travel and I missed the game. Was the injury to Mariota that crucial? The only thing I caught was Ramsey's pick six on Cassel. I figured Derrick Henry's homecoming would be a big moment and the guy would go nuts.

How about them Jags, where has that team been all season?

Imagine what a firing at the biweek could have done? Playoffs?
