Yeah, I think Gus is as good as gone. Shad is planning some big announcements in the coming year. Development around Everbank Field, etc. He's going to want some good vibes. Winning could have done that but is impossible now.

A new coach is coming, and he's going to be on the offensive side of the ball.

I want Gus out, but I sure hope our defense doesn't lose their edge when it happens.

Don't read my statement as me believing that he will be back;  I just wouldn't be surprised if he were.

If it were me hiring a coach, I'd be looking for an offensive minded guy with some experience as an NFL head coach that didn't quite make it the first time around.  With the exception of a few, I think most of the successful coaches didn't really hit their stride until their 2nd or 3rd stop.

Looking over the possible candidate for 2017 (You guys stuck on the Gruden / Cowher bus just need to stop) my top 2 candidates would be:

Todd Haley & Doug Marrone

Haley was OK with the Chiefs and Alex Smith and has been coaching the QB that created the mold for BB5.  So he's used to having a big, mobile QB and a strong WR corps.  Our run game is no where near what the Steelers have, but neither is our O-Line.

Marrone could be the answer if given the reigns because I think the general continuity would allow the team to hit the ground running since I assume he would be using a lot of the same system/verbiage.

How do you feel about TC being an advisor at least that's the rumors flying around?

I'm totally OK with that, but it's my gut feeling that if TC comes in as an executive, then GB will probably stay on the sidelines for at least another year.

Think of it as Shad bringing in one of the Bobs to give him some honest feedback over the course of a season.  He's experienced, he's won championships and he's fresh out of coaching, so I could see it working really well with regards to advising the owner on what really needs to get fixed / changed.

There is no chance that Bradley is back next year. 0%.

He will be fired on January 2nd. Probably before the sun rises.

Last game is in Indy right?, they should just leave him there.

Lane Kiffin signed with Florida Atlantic to coach today.

Clearly 3 years at Bama barely lifted his rep on the coaching charts.

But he definitely not heading to the Jaguars.

Mediocrates is finally fired.

Didn't He just sign a 2 year extension? That is even dumber than what Khan did extending Gus. Wow.

Fisher was one game away from becoming the NFL coach with the most losses in history. So close! Now it appears he will remain tied for the top spot.

114 yards in penalties, regressing O, Lee is the only bright spot, Robinson who? Hurns who? Kudos to the D for the TO in the end zone, then the O gave it back 4 plays later. It was fun for about 3.5 quarters.
And, that $115 will save Jacksonville from financial ruin. - Mayor John Peyton

"This is a game-changer. This is what I mean when I say taking Jacksonville to the next level."

All in all, not a bad move for Lane Kiffin. He probably looks at the situation in Gainesville and Coral Gables and believes at one of those head coaches will not last beyond three more years. Success at FAU may have him position to challenge for one of those jobs. And he may be right.

With Lane off the table, I now want Josh McDaniel to come in and fix Blake *and* our offense.

LA is saying the samething about McDaniels and Jared Goff.

Jeff Fisher is done as a NFL coach. Much was made in LA about his playbook being obsolete and no OC worth their salt wanted to work for him.

The Rams org has been disfunctional since Georgia Frontierre died. Jeff Fisher simply got the talent up to .500.

He will end up a talking head on one of the many NFL punditry shows.

I have always been a proponent that the HC and OC develop a playbook to match the personnel versus writing a playbook and then spending 4 years of drafts and free agency to reach it.

Case in point, the Blaine Gabbert era.

I just think that any coach worth their salt wont want to work with Bortles, at least not for very long. Ryan Tannehill is just reaching good stats after how many years?  Dont get me wrong, I like the guy, but his regression in skill this year has to be scaring people away.

RattlerGator

Damn. All of my choices for the next coach will be gone, that's what you're telling me?

Has to be plenty good offense guys out there. Shad & Caldwell have to go find him.
