Have any of you had your wedding or been to a wedding at the downtown library? How was the experience? Were homeless people outside an issue for guests entering and leaving or is security tight? Any suggestions or recommendations? Looking at venues now, but reviews are hard to come by for this location. The pictures are beautiful though! Thanks in advance!

I've been to a couple of weddings there, the Library has private security at the door so it shouldn't be an issue.

Depending on any other events around downtown, street level parking might be difficult so make sure you direct guest to the adjacent garage.

Congrats man!

I've never had a bad experience at a wedding at the library.

We had our reception at the University Club, which I would also highly recommend.

Thanks! I thought you had to be a member to get into the university club and the one at the top of the Wells Fargo building... Is that not the case?

Nope! Unless something has changed, both the University Club and River Club will gladly accept the money of non-members to hold events/receptions at their clubs :D

Oldest child of a first cousin recently was married there. It was magnificent; no issues at all.

For guests do they have to validate a parking ticket or does someone man the barricade? Aside from the library, university club and cummer museum are there any "must consider" places to have a reception?

jaxjaguar

Also, if anyone has any other recommendations I'd be glad to hear them :)

I parked on the street with no problem at all and the reception was also at the Library.

Congrats! Sounds like a great idea. I bet the venue is amazing.

The Jax Historical Society rents out Old St. Andrews Church by the Baseball Grounds. We almost had our wedding there (we also looked at the Library, and would have been very happy with either if we hadn't fallen in love with our venue, the Winterborne in Orange Park, which is also really cool).
Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

I love the look of that church. It would be a great place for a wedding. My friend Ricky got married at the Winterborne years ago - that was very nice, too.

I've actually been to a wedding/reception at winterbourne. It is beautiful, but a little too close to home haha. I didn't realize you could go in st Andrews. Thanks for the suggestion. I think we're trying to stay out of a church though as our families have deeply divided religious affiliations.

I had my wedding there. Ceremony was inside and the reception was outside where the fountain is. It was really cool. It was in the evening on a Saturday so parking wasn't an issue. I never heard any issues with the homeless. If i recall correctly they do make you hire security guards.

Scratches university club off the list...
