First Lady's speech was great and I'm sure it will be replayed many many times over our lifetime.   It does seem less crazy than the GOP one but that is a low low bar.

The media is underplaying how divided the showing from the Democratic base has been at the convention. The Bernie supporters are quite upset. Of course it's not on the level of the RNC, where a lot of the party leadership didn't even show up, but like fsquid says that's a very low bar.

I'm having a hard time understanding why folks are so upset about the DNC chair favoring Hillary. The chair having an opinion doesn't mean much - just look at the Republicans where most of the top brass were openly contemptuous of Trump and he won anyway. Bernie wasn't close to winning the primary even if more of the leadership had been stumping for him. I'm more concerned by the possibility of the Russians trying to meddle with our election. At least we know now that Putin doesn't want Clinton to win.

Nothing is falling apart for either side. Trump is right, he can shoot someone in the middle of the street and he will still have the repubs support. The skepticism will fade and repubs will vote for trump.

If anything, the dems should thank trump. There are few people in the world that can unify the dems the way Trump can.

He's made it clear who the repubs are. Other candidates simply wink at bigotry. Trump has the decency to make it clear. And, the people love it. Or, hate it. So, for that. Thank you, Donald Trump for lifting the veil of what half the nation thinks.

It doesn't take a conspiracy theorist to know the whole thing is scripted. My sources are telling me the DNC even pre-releases some of the speeches. If you think the RNC conventions wasn't scripted, you should reconsider.

Both Trump and Clinton are among the luckiest candidates in the history of America. Either one of them would be trounced by virtually any other serious candidate. Because they're both historically unpopular, and the third parties aren't getting much traction, it's a dead heat.

I don't agree with that. Most people I talk to cite things like the email scandal, her role in Benghazi and its blowback, the 25 years of grand jury investigations and controversies going back to Whitewater. There are some who can't articulate a good reason why they don't like her, but the same is true of Trump and virtually any other candidate.

Yes, which amounted to... nothing. The Right lost all it's credibility with me years ago as it comes to Hillary. She has made mistakes, as we all do, and they are out there for all to see as she has been in the public eye non-stop for 25 years.  The non-stop efforts to get her at all costs, have made her paronoid and clouded her judgement at times, but she isn't the she-devil the right makes her out to be.

And if the 5 million emails deleted off of the RNC servers in the W administration had been leaked, there would be plenty of fodder there too.

I really wish Democrats would propose an end to the drug war. It's the cause of most of the abuse the police are doing, and it's really a war on minorities.

The echo chamber is strong in this one. You guys must be watching another convention, because this is already a total shitshow than all of the RNC. The constant boos, thousands of protestors outside, the DNC leaks on everyone's mind, Bernie rolling over (and most his supporters rejecting it), etc. Pretty funny since everyone swore it was the Reps who were gonna be fractured.

You can only put so much lipstick on a pig before everyone realises what's going on & how messed up this whole thing is with all the collusion. This won't end well for the Dems IMO.

Why would they? Allowing states to supersede the Federal laws in drugs, but enforcing Obamacare at the state level? So healthcare is free after you destroy your body with drugs.

Sanders will get his revolution, but to the dismay of Democrats (because they wont be voting that way).

The  "war  on drugs"  has led to the imprisonment  of  millions  of  Americans,  disproportionately people  of color,  without  reducing  drug  use.  Whenever  possible,  Democrats  will  prioritize prevention  and  treatment  over incarceration  when  tackling  addiction  and substance  use  disorder. We will  build on effective  models of drug courts, veterans'  courts, and other diversionary
programs  that  seek to give  nonviolent  offenders  opportunities  for  rehabilitation  as opposed to incarceration. 

Because  of  conflicting  federal  and  state laws  concerning  marijuana,  we encourage  the federal government  to remove marijuana from the list of "Schedule  1" federal controlled  substances  and to appropriately  regulate  it,  providing  a reasoned pathway  for future  legalization.  We believe  that the  states should  be laboratories  of  democracy  on the  issue  of marijuana,  and those  states that want  to decriminalize it or provide  access to medical  marijuana  should  be able to do so. We support  policies  that  will  allow  more  research  on marijuana,  as well  as reforming  our laws  to allow  legal  marijuana  businesses  to exist  without  uncertainty.  And we recognize  our  current marijuana  laws  have  had an unacceptable  disparate  impact  in  terms  of arrest  rates for African
Americans  that  far  outstrip  arrest  rates for whites,  despite  similar  usage  rates.

But Federal Law can only be changed through legislation in Congress.  Don't hear much talk at all about it from Republicans. 

Personally, I support full decriminalization of all drugs.  But I recognize that that kind of progressive ideal will take time to get through.
