The buildout on Ozark Drive is leased to Synovus Bank and will be their NE Florida HQ.

There are 2 new developments in the Kernan Boulevard portal, one is at the SW corner of Kernan and Beach next to the old Sans Pariel neighborhood. They just cleared out the woods.

KB Homes and Sleiman Enterprises have a new development  going up behind BJ's in the SE quadrant of Atlantic and Kernan.

At the very north end Sleiman Enterprises cut a deal with Faithbridge Church to develop the SE corner of Kernan and Wonderwood.

Construction on the new I-295 Toll Road has kicked off as Archer-Western is beginning to stage their equipment on the Davis property at 295 and Gate Parkway.

Construction on a new parking garage in support of Aetna moving into the former Bank of America campus ( now called Gramercy Park) will break ground in September if the permits are approved.

Gate Petroleum is building a new station on Beach between Hodges and SanPablo.

Killashee is building a new strip retail center on Beach where the former Golden Corral was located in front of Regal Cinemas.

Jolibee is currently rehabbing a former A&W on Atlantic for their first Jacksonville presence. Jolibee is a popular Filipino food chain.

Is this all single-family residential, as far as you know?

When is MJ gonna add a Northside update, as in the areas surrounding the River City Marketplace? Tons of new growth there. Granted, there's not a Macy's or Neimann being built out there, but still much growth to report. Just sayin'...
I could be wrong about that...it's been known to happen.

Good point. I'm looking in to providing more coverage of things happening in that area of town.

Yes, this looks to be single family homes based on the models they are currently building. It's KB Homes, so, meh. Lennar is also about to break ground on a single family development farther down Kernan by Kernan Middle School.

That's too far out, menace. These folks don't quite love the "metro" part of their name. And, it's too close to Georgia. Might pick up some Peach State cooties.

The KB development is called "Vista Pointe" with single family homes, almost identical to the buildout KB did in Wynnfield Lakes behind the WalMart across Kernan.

As far as Lennar goes....

I can only assume this is why contractors are building out the Alden Road extension east of Kernan now?  They have the curbs relaid it appears. The Lennar development will be called "Red Hawk".

With the new traffic lights at Vista Pointe going up this week, the new traffic lights for Tamayo/North Beach Apts will be active in the next 2 weeks, and I would imagine a light will go in when Alden gets extended into Lennar's development, that is going to put a real damper on the way people drive on Kernan in the morning. We call it "Little JTB" for how fast traffic rolls. The JSO motorcycle cops have a daily feast, but with the lights going in, that is going to slow things down. They really need a pedestrian bridge for kids trying to cross to Kernan Middle.

Does anyone know why the Lake Lofts at Deerwood is not opening? The building is completed and has been sitting vacant for months now. I'm wondering if there were issues with construction/lawsuit maybe? Does the developer not have enough money to operate? The place is lit up every night, and I can't imagine someone footing the JEA bill without having revenue coming in. I live in the neighborhood and just hate seeing open housing sitting vacant.
