The Jaguars can afford to reimburse them because of the taxpayer money that we throw at them.  We just gave them another 45 million btw.  No extracurricular activities in our public schools, but at least the football fans have flyovers.

Sorry my friend, but as a former City Councilman I can tell you the flyovers are 100% FREE! The military works them into a training schedule and they must be applied for a year in advance with a rather detailed standardized form. I'm not certain but I would think this is why it's Navy one time, Army another, AF on another etc...

How was the P-8 fly by?

Pretty darn cool! I saw them practicing on Thursday while crossing the Buckman and was thrown off by seeing such large planes flying so close to each other. Watching them while in the stadium was pretty cool!

An absolute waste of taxpayer dollars and further conflation of the NFL with the worst kinds of rah-rah-rah mindless patriotism, which involves zero introspection, that is ruining this country.

My understanding is that the Jaguars reimburse the USG for flyovers. They are not a gimme.

Also, if you dont think flyovers by any branch are appropriate,  then you are against recruitment commercials on TV, as they serve the same purpose.

The Jaguars can afford to reimburse them because of the taxpayer money that we throw at them.  We just gave them another 45 million btw.  No extracurricular activities in our public schools, but at least the football fans have flyovers.

Is this an endorsement for additional hotel tourism bed taxes to support education?

Actually that they be spent only on education and developing tourism.  Not giving a billion dollars to a billionaire who doesn't need the money.

Private/public partnerships imply that this is part of the deal, don't they?

Further, football absolutely contributes to tourism. Once preseason starts, every home game brings a team from outside of Jacksonville. That brings opposing fans to Jax as a destination.

I know that it's a cliche, but this team makes me drink...I'm most likely gonna stay put as a seven year season ticket holder with this team headed by Gus in 2016...Say hello to 7-9 or 8-8 next year (no playoffs) guys, cant wait!!! It's amazing to me that no one even questions the future of Gus Bradley. Look at his overall record. Two things that you can count on though; 1. Losing season 2. Bad coaching. So I guess that I'm aboard the 'Gus Bus' by default...

[1] Blake with the INT down near the goal line, right in front of my section in the stadium, and I had a premonition it was coming. I verbalized this premonition and I thought the whole area was going to jump me when it actually happened. It was 14-3 Falcons, the Jaguars had the ball at the 1-yard line, there were 14 seconds left. The one thing you cannot do there is throw an INT and effectively take points *off* our board.

And that's precisely what Blake did.

Blake, Blake, Blake!

[2] As well as Denard Robinson played last week, he was HORRIBLE this week and KILLED us with his mistakes.

I-10, neither of the above-referenced situations reflect poorly on Gus. The defense performed well enough to win. We had an absolute killer of a mistake from our franchise QB in a situation where we could get points to close out the first half AND THEN GET THE BALL TO START THE 2ND HALF. That was the kind of killer mistake you just can't make.

There was a collective disbelief / disgust in the stadium when Blake threw that end-of-2nd-quarter INT. It was surreal.

That said, you are ultimately correct I-10: this team drives you to drink.

Not related to gameplay, but I spent most of the first half on the sidelines near the bench (until Caldwell asked me to leave, but that's another story) and I've got to say that seeing a game from that POV was incredible and I can cross it off the bucket list.

First thing I noticed was how loud everything is.  The crowd noise is incredible.  The sounds from the field were awesome.  Hearing the sounds of a guy's sharp exhale as he makes a cut, the cleats digging in the turf, the popping of pad on pad...  surreal.

The other thing I noticed is how busy everyone is down there.  The support staff, the network people, the stadium personnel...  so much going on constantly.

The last thing I really noticed was how fast this game is.  These guys are huge and so damn quick.  I'm not a big guy, but I've practiced on the field with pro-baseball players and played with pro-golfers, and while I still admire what they can do, it doesn't feel like I'm out of place.  There's not a chance in hell I'd even consider suiting up for one play against those guys.

Anyhow, it was an incredible day that won't be forgotten.

How did you manage to get that invite?
In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

How did you manage to get that invite?

I got a phone call about 12:30 asking if I wanted to go to the game.  I already had plans and was turning down the invite, but when he said, I was there earlier doing a shoot and have a field pass.  Still no?

Time from my house, to pick up the pass, to the stadium - 4 minutes 23 seconds.  Lol.

So I walked right into the stadium and straight to the South Endzone before the nerves hit.  So before I just barged down on the field, I asked one of the red-shirts and that's when I found out that the on-field access was only good for pre-game.  But...  if you want to go hang out and stay out of the way, you can go watch from over there (corner of the EZ).

I gladly took him up on his offer and went over to my 'designated area'.  That lasted for about 10 minutes before my courage (read-what's the worst that can happen attitude) came back.  So I just acted like I was supposed to be there.  In jeans, flip-flops and a Bryan Anger jersey, but, yeah... supposed to be here.

So for the next quarter and a half, I hung out just out side of the white-tarped area completely in fan heaven watching the game.  Then I get a tap on my left shoulder and I turn and standing right next to me is Diamond Dave.  "Are you supposed to be here?"  And he waves over one of the red-shirts.  I said "Probably not, but I was already down here when the game started and got wrapped up."  "If you're not actively shooting anything, you're gonna have to go."  I held up my cellphone and grinned from ear to ear, he wasn't amused.  My only regret, since I was already on the way out, is not having the cajones to try and get a selfie.

It was awesome.

But I still had more than 2 quarters of football left and an All-Access pass.  I was determined that the sideline wasn't going to be the only place I got kicked out of that day....  ;)

^^^Awesome footage!!!
Agreed! I am *so* damn envious of you. What an incredible experience.

To no surprise, Khan confirmed that Gus will be here next season. Notably Blake, and the A Team's procession is nice, but we better see some progress in the win/loss column (Like Jim Mora said, Playoffs!!!) in 2016, or it will definitely be Gus's last year.

What a joke.  12-35 (soon to be 12-36).  No coach in the history of the NFL has ever been given a 4th year with that poor of a record.  Blake and the offensive progression this year is a testament to why coaching change is needed.  Look what happened in 1 year under an entire new offensive coaching staff.  But even that wasn't Gus's decision, since he is incapable of making tough decisions with his staff or lineup.

Every single game he is outmatched by the opposing coach.  Taking bad timeouts like out of commercial breaks, or poor decisions on 4th downs and extra point conversions.

The defense has actually regressed under him.  Now Dave will have to make the big boy decision for him and (hopefully) fire Babich (Gus's buddy).  But then who do you get?  Most likely a 1 year gig, and you have to be a 4-3 guy, and you have to run the style Gus wants to run (No matter how bad it is at utilizing our players' talents).

An absolute joke that Gus is coming back.  Great guy, terrible Head Coach.
So I said to him: Arthur, Artie come on, why does the salesman have to die? Change the title; The life of a salesman. That's what people want to see.

^Not sure I completely agree.

Bradley fired Fisch - he was a bad fit and he let him go.

If you are going to dump on Bradley for the poor defensive performance (which personally I think is just a lack of talent, not coaching), then you have to give him some credit for the offense this year (which I think is more about players than plays as well).

My prediction earlier this year was that if they got to six wins then they keep Bradley - and I was fine with it. They're at 5 now - if they don't win Sunday then I'd chalk up him staying because of the passing game explosion. Lost in some of the disastrous defense and kicking game was that Bortles will likely set the team passing yards record this year (Already passed the TD record) and they have two receivers over 1,000 yards for the first time since McCardell and Smith - not a small accomplishment.

I tend to agree Bridges, but for whatever reason, an overwhelming amount of Jags fans wants Gus to stay. Like I said earlier, I'm on the 'Gus Bus' by default, only because I'm a diehard Jags fan.
