QuoteA man shot about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday was hospitalized in critical condition with wounds to his chest and leg, Jacksonville police said.
The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Stonewall Street in the Brooklyn neighborhood of Jacksonville's Riverside area.

Several people flagged down an officer and led them to the 31-year-old lying in the middle of the Chelsea Street near a dead end, according to the incident report.

One witness said two people were running on Chelsea and a vehicle was leaving the area on Stonewall. Another said he heard about 12 gunshots and saw a white, newer-model car, possibly a Charger or Camaro, leaving on Park Street, the report said.

The Times Union is located in Brooklyn, right or is it now in Riverside?

I'm pretty sure 1000 block of Stonewall Street is in Brooklyn, https://goo.gl/maps/CqYPST8RcFS2

In the google street view of the described area there is a white newer model dodge avenger......  Could be mistaken for a Charger at night.  Might want to ask the residents of those buildings if they saw anything.

I always thought Brooklyn and Riverside were separate areas. Maybe not anymore?

What buildings?  ;D

Do you believe that when the blue jay or another bird sings and the body is trembling, that is a signal that people are coming or something important is about to happen?

103rd Street soon to become definitive "Northwest Jacksonville" demarcation.

The new development there made a conscious decision to brand associate with Riverside more so than Brooklyn, because of the Riverside namebrand. There is no Brooklyn in Jax, if you ask 95% of residents, while Riverside typically brings to mind something positive.

Thus, the branding emphasizes Riverside in the logos, titles, etc. Throw in the main road being named Riverside Avenue, and that area is naturally going to become other pocket of Riverside, a la 5 Points and Park & King. Unless a concerted effort is made by future development to emphasize Brooklyn, it's just a matter of time until it totally looses any identity it has left.

Chelsea and Spruce St are still very sketchy to travel down at night time. Especially Spruce. The neighborhood has really changed for the better since the new developments (220 Riverside, Brooklyn Riverside apartments) but still has lingering issues. Da Tunnel (bar at Price and Park) was having shootings frequently until it shut down about a year ago.

Quoteif you ask 95% of residents

If you ask 95% of the residents of Jacksonville you won't get a decent answer on anything. Heck, as the news stations where Ortega is located, they will tell you its westside Jacksonville. In fact, anything located West of downtown is Westside/Bestside.

I'm OK with Brooklyn going away and being folded into Riverside. The YMCA does not call its location Brooklyn, neither does the Times Union or Haskell for that matter, and they have been there for a very long time. There is actually an area called North Riverside, located just north of I-10. This area of Brooklyn might as well be called East Riverside. After all its a heckuva lot easier to sell "Riverside" than it is Brooklyn.
