I finally decided to join MetroJax since I am moving from Town Center to Downtown next month and I CAN NOT FREAKING WAIT! I have been up on reading alot of the post on the forms and what not. Trying to figure out who the big name people of Jacksonville are and learning about the infamous RAP.

Thanks ahead of time for having me.

In a boat at sea one of the men began to bore a hole in the bottom of the boat. On being remonstrating with, he answered, "I am only boring under my own seat." "Yes," said his companions, "but when the sea rushes in we shall all be drowned with you."

Welcome aboard.  Also, thank you for moving downtown and away from SJTC.  Get as many people you know that live over there to move downtown as well.  Downtown needs more people, SJTC needs less with all the damn traffic so it's a win-win.

I actually have a few friends looking for the san marco/downtown/springfield area. One thing that finally drove the push was the horrible construction of all the stuff being built out there. I also miss the local vibe of a city. Everything in SJTC is so corporate and doesn't really have the connection a neighborhood/town/city should have with the area.

Quotelearning about the infamous RAP

Well, if you live downtown, you will have ZERO news and impact with RAP. Maybe you can create your own preservation group. Welcome!

Welcome, and glad you made the move!

Thats good! I am interested in meeting some more people who live downtown. I literally know nobody that lives in downtown but I do know some in the surrounding neighborhoods.

You are absolutely right.  SJTC and the Tinsletown area is what it is, a suburban shopping mall area, and nothing more.  It serves its purpose as a nicer version of the Avenues (perhaps) which is fine with me but I would never in a hundred years consider it a neighborhood with very much "community feel."

After living in Boston, I do miss the community feel. Walking into local stores, restaurants, and bars, and people will actually know who you are and will have a conversation with you.
